Fragrance tips

Fragrance tipsWith more and more people becoming sensitive to fragrance these days, many are becoming aware of a new trend in "fragrance etiquette".

If you must use fragrance, apply sparingly so people aren't smelling you long after you've left the room. To keep from overloading on perfume, try changing your scent every once in a while since our noses can become desensitized over time and we end up applying more and more just to be able to detect it on ourselves.

Also, extend the life of those expensive perfumes by keeping bottles out of the bathroom (the heat and humidity can cause the scent to turn) - you may even opt to store yours in the refrigerator to keep scents fresh even longer.

In the fridge. I will have to try. COLD! I alternate my perfume everyday depending on what I feel like. This really really needs to get ou though about alternating your perfume because sometimes you won't see them but you can smell when people walk by even ten minutes later!

sakura3338 wrote: Wed, 2007-12-19 18:41

i agree i alternate to what i feel like

cassandrawannabe1 wrote: Thu, 2007-12-20 02:02

that's great advise but i got one to add if you don't want to worry about putting too much i spray one spray away from my upper body and face it inwards and repeat to a lower area then walk into it.

christina_93 replied: Wed, 2008-01-02 15:25

I agree! That is what i do! I spray it in front of me and then walk through it! It helps so that its not too much and its also pretty fun!!

ch_lovin... replied: Fri, 2008-01-04 13:36

I do that too. It eliminates putting too much on.

Thanks for putting this awareness tip out there. I am allergic to fragrance and it is a real problem for me.

violinhorse wrote: Thu, 2007-12-20 15:27

I will have to try this because some days i alternate perfumes but u have to be careful about how many u alternate because if the perfume scent still stays on u and u put another one on it will mix and smell!!!!!! It will smell aweful scrub hard in the shower to get that icky smell off!!!!

the refrigerator sounds like a bad idea, i would think condensation would be worse cause it adds water to the fragrance, and since citrus oils (used in many fragrances) and various alcohols float in water, youd end up spraying water, and its not easy to get that stuff out of an un-openable spay bottle without wasitng it cause as soon as you pick it up and start spraying they start to mix,
just keep it all in your room in a zip lock bag (separately) in a box (together) or separately if you got that many boxes... but thats dumb,
although i aggree whole heartedly with the fragrance thing and wearing too much, i hate it when guys are practically swimming in cheap axe . whenever i decide to wear cologne i stick to one spray,

people weren't created reeking of flowers and alchohol, id rather be smelling a faint beauty of estee' lauder "beautiful" merely accessorizing the air of the woman im with, rather than trying to taste my food over her loud scent... but thats just my two cents here, take what you want.

Well, Tanner, if the perfume/cologne seperates when you put it in the fridge, then you can always just put the lid on and shake it up to mix it all back together! And I don't see how shaking it would change the scent of it at all so it wouldn't matter anyways. Whatever, Do what you want to.

ch_lovin... replied: Fri, 2007-12-21 18:10

I think there certain fragrances for certain ocassions. I agree with you Stephanie023.

sometimesdee replied: Sun, 2007-12-23 18:56

I agree. I use my (relatively) expensive perfume for special occasions, and different body sprays for everyday use, depending on how I feel.

kiekeyme wrote: Thu, 2007-12-27 22:11

I agree I have very bad alleries and it' very hard for me at parties and gatherings. I feel horrible when I have to leave early because I can't breath.

I like using fragrances very sparingly. I use it very light when I go out.

artisticdreamergrl wrote: Sat, 2007-12-29 17:40

ch_lovin... wrote: Wed, 2008-01-16 19:12

My favorite perfume right now is Shania for everyday and Halloween for special ocassions

ohhvicky wrote: Thu, 2008-01-17 08:53

I like to layer my fragrance...I use the lotion that go's with it..then I just spray a little on my neck and behind my hairline at the nape of my neck..cause its warm under your hair and it makes it last all day without being over done

wendyswindells wrote: Tue, 2008-01-22 17:54

You should only smell the scent of perfume no more than 6 inches away from your body and not smell like you're trying to cover up the smell from the last person you were with.
