Is this any comparison to Bio Oil? I have heard a lot of good things about Bio Oil. What is your opinion?
Cheers

msns93 replied: Tue, 2008-03-04 20:32

i have Bio Oil...it's for scares

ch_lovin... replied: Fri, 2008-03-07 12:53

Where do you get Bio Oil? You know I have a fair complexion and scars really show up on my skin and now I take the Flax Seed vitamin once or twice a day and my looks so much clearer and you can hardly see a blemish in sight and I have only been taking it about a week and a half!

Personally, I like Extra Virgin Olive Oil better. I've used it on my babies' bottoms to clear up diaper rash as well as on my face, in my hair and to eliminate razor bumps. Great stuff!

friendlybbw replied: Wed, 2008-02-06 19:03

You have used Extra Virgin Olive Oil to eliminate razor bumps where??

larm replied: Thu, 2008-02-07 14:25

Thank you for this I always have some of this to hand so will give it a try.

freethewater replied: Fri, 2008-02-08 00:42

Thanks for this suggestion. I will try it.

ch_lovin... replied: Mon, 2008-02-11 19:04

What do you use it on your face for? Dry skin?

lisalovessteve wrote: Wed, 2008-02-06 17:57

This is a great beauty tip. I have also used jojoba oil, coconut oil & rose hip oil with wonderful results. Anything that isn't accompanied with chemical preservatives, frangrances etc is worth trying in my opinion. The added bonus is these oils are quite inexpensive too.

So basically any natural oil will be good when used as a facial moisturizer?

:o)

Organic Coconut oil is a wonderful moisturizer as well. I agree with lisalovessteve! Anything that doesn't have chemicals is overall better. Check out the website: www.cosmeticsdatabase.com - they rate every cosmetic out there and they are unbiased and not paid by any source. This site tells the levels of toxicity of cosmetics by name! check it out!

mrnt1257 replied: Thu, 2008-02-07 20:49

Thanks for that website, Brandi. I'll check it out!

Thanks for this site. Will look at it, I am very curious.

i have used almond oil as a moisturizer, and hair oil - it doesnt have an 'oily' smell, so its great...but on the face, i have started using, and with great results, walnut oil - it has great anti aging and regenerative properties. buy cold pressed, it doesnt have an 'oily' smell. another all time favorite is olive oil - great for complexion...(as you can see, i am a great 'oil' fan, but thats because each oil is great in its own right!!!)

daydreamerjess wrote: Wed, 2008-02-06 21:39

Would any type of oil be good to use on -extremely- oily skin on the face?
My face is EXTREMELY oily and I would try almost anything.

mandyinhouse wrote: Wed, 2008-02-06 21:49

My only concern would be breakouts. Has anyone had any problem with acne after using these natural oils?

mrnt1257 replied: Thu, 2008-02-07 20:46

Actually, Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Virgin Coconut Oil are good for clearing acne. Mineral oil clogs pores, but these oils do not, and they have an anti-bacterial effect. Also, they do not cause my skin to be more oily.

brontegabriella replied: Sun, 2008-02-17 11:23

If you find these too greasy on your skin, mrnt1257, then put a splash in a bit of plain oil-free cheap moisturiser with a few drops of tea tree oil. I have greasy skin and this works wonders!

ch_lovin... replied: Mon, 2008-02-11 19:06

That's what I'm thinking too.

mbingham025 wrote: Wed, 2008-02-06 21:56

Does anybody know what kind of oil is really really good for your hair after putting color on it? Its kind of dry now.

ch_lovin... replied: Mon, 2008-02-11 19:07

Vitamin E oil. Great for hair!

alphakitty wrote: Thu, 2008-02-07 06:31

be careful! sweet almond oil also feeds the body hair. i wouldn't use it on my face =)

born_confused90 wrote: Thu, 2008-02-07 15:24

and castor oil is in lots of shampoos- it's great for promoting hair growth!

kitkat98 wrote: Tue, 2008-02-12 08:34

you can use OLIVE OIL for a hot oil treatment on your hair too; put a couple tablespoons in a coffee cup and put it in the microwave, not for long and put it on clean, towel dried hair, then after u apply the oil wrap your hair back up in the towel and wait a couple minutes.Style as usual!

brontegabriella replied: Sun, 2008-02-17 11:21

Kitkat & others - if you have greasy or dandruffy hair this is great but if you are greasy make sure you wash it before you style it!

tokenchick wrote: Fri, 2008-02-15 19:07

Being allergic to nuts, I don't think I would even want almond oil on my skin - but I love olive oil. I just buy organic extra virgin stuff and use it for the skin.

brontegabriella wrote: Sun, 2008-02-17 11:19

The great thing with this is you can add things to it, such as a few drops of 100% tea tree oil for spotty skin, an infusion of chamomile (chamomile flowers that has been in hot water, a bit like tea. In fact, cold chamomile tea would do fine!) for dry skin, and the list is endless.

If you have greasy skin, get a plain moisturiser (Nivea Visage Oil-free is pretty good - do you get Nivea Visage in America?!), preferably with spf like Olay but whatever is fine, as long as its fairly cheap. Then put a few drops of sweet almond oil and maybe a few of another essential oil or an infusion, or even honey!! It's so lovely without chemicals :)

Extra Virgin Olive oil is good on dandruffy hair overnight, but make sure you put a towel on your pillow!!
