Eyes Beauty Tip

Choosing the right shadow for the occasion

Choosing the right shadow for the occasionWhen choosing eyeshadow for a more dramatic or glamorous look, choose colors with "shimmer", "metallic", or "satin" in the name. More mature women should avoid "frost" shadows which can settle into skin creases, accentuating fine lines and wrinkles (something none of us wants!)

I do that. It makes sense.

rainbowz09 wrote: Thu, 2008-01-31 02:41

can you please define metallic & satin.
please also example some products relating this.

kemoore86 replied: Thu, 2008-01-31 08:41

Metallic eyeshadow will have a lot of gold, or silver tones in them. Usually a lot of glitter, or simply a highlight effect that catches light. Think Urban Decay.

Satin eyeshadow may have some glimmer, but are usually very rich, thick tones without the glitter of metallic eyeshadow. I think Nars has a lot of satin shadows.

Makes sense... I'll make sure to remember that when choosing my eyeshadow.

brookeo wrote: Thu, 2008-01-31 07:25

is frost different than shimmer, metallic & satin???

fritzaboo replied: Thu, 2008-01-31 07:44

I think frost is not glittery.

kemoore86 replied: Thu, 2008-01-31 08:45

Metallic basically has gold and silver undertones, or is the color of metal; they can be quite glittery. Satin may have a little glimmer, but is rich and thick, and usually offers intense colors. Those often come in powder form.

Frosts generally come in a tube, and they make me think of ice. I think Sephora has some that are called eye dews. I generally don't use them because they don't stay on as well as powder unless you get the expensive ones. They can also be like spandex when it comes to highlighting imperfections.

what would you recomend for brown hair blue eyes and tan skin

ch_lovin... replied: Thu, 2008-01-31 14:27

Actually whether you have brown or blond hair as long as you have blue eyes the color palette is the same. We can wear purples, browns/ taupes, pinks, silvers and I love golds.

sabriela wrote: Thu, 2008-01-31 10:44

Found this hope it helps ...

Blue Eyes: Browns, rosy pinks, and warm shades contrast the coolness of blue eyes, making them pop.

Brown Eyes: Greens and golds accentuate the colored flecks in brown eyes.

Green Eyes: Purples and warm browns provide a stunning contrast to green eyes.

Hazel Eyes: Deep greens and pale yellows pick up the varying flecks in hazel eyes.

ch_lovin... replied: Fri, 2008-03-07 12:59

oh honey you sound gorgeous! Try some greens and purples! Maybe even some blues.

katiec45 replied: Wed, 2008-03-26 12:57

if you have grey eyes, you're lucky...you can wear any color you want, that goes with your skin tone and hair color. just avoid grey...eyes and eye shadow colors should never match!! it's also a bad idea to match your makeup colors with your clothes.
hope this helps

vaffanculo

ch_lovin... wrote: Thu, 2008-01-31 14:25

The easiest way to see these different types of shadow are to go to your neighboorhood drug store or Wal-Mart and look at the Covergirl section. They have righ ton the package if the shadow is either a frost, satin, metallic or glitter. Glitter has glitter in the shadow. This seems like the simplest way to explain and what better way than to see it with your own eyes. If not Covergirl, there are lots of different brands that specify on the product itself. Basically any matte, satin colors are for everyday or work days. All the other glamour shades are for the night life.

this is a great tip! I'm only thirteen but all of this stuff is totally helping me make the right decisions on makeup and stuff!!!

ch_lovin... replied: Fri, 2008-02-01 17:52

A couple words of advice. Do not wear hot pink blush paired with bright blue eye shadow, and do not wear an excessice amount of make up. Try to excentuate your beautiful features that compliment your skin tones and eye color. I hope this helps.

shann4u2want wrote: Thu, 2008-01-31 22:37
