Make Your Eyes Stand Out

Choosing an eye shadow color can be tricky. Try on shades that contrast your eye color -- it's contrasting, not similar, colors that will make your eyes stand out.Think in terms of 3 for whatever color you choose: A light color to highlight near the brow, a medium shade on the lid, and a dark shade to line your eyes and define the contour.

If you have brown eyes, blue usually looks horrible, so don't use this.

do you know wat looks really good on a little tanned ppl the top part of your eye should be white with sparkles then the very bottom should be brown and the middle part should be light purple try it it looks really good

If you're going for more vivid shades, the color opposite your eye color is usually most complimentary. So for blue eyes it's orange. So what you want is a shade with hints of orange in it. A rich copper or gold (which both have orange undertones) will brighten blue eyes. Hope that helps!

i heard brown really brings out blue eyes. i am having this same problem.

Purples, plums, golds, silver, taupes....not green or blue though.
browns and purples look great on blue eyes and a smoky eye is also a good call
i am very beauty makeup challenged i grew up a tomboy wat looks good wit brown eyes with fairly a good shape to them? how can u make ur eyebrows seem darker mine are light?
for brown eyes: use skin tones, and just try what u like, i think purple would look good... but i dont have brown eyes... i just thinking... :)
to make ur eyebrowns darker: use a brown pencil, u can find them at target.
i think aqua colors look great on blue eyes, and light purple might look good. u might wanna avoid green shadow.... not so good >.<

ew dont listen to that girl! orange is a nono! I have blue eys i wear darker purples, blues, and maybe an ocasional gray. sometimes green but it depends on ur outfit. for u to ware orange with ur eyes might not match what ur waering ware as blues and purples will!
sorry you are misunderstanding the advice. I was recommending shades with a hint of orange in it, like copper or gold. I don't think pure orange would look good on anyone's eyes no matter what color. But if you don't trust what I have to say ask any makeup professional who understands the basics of complementary colors. Also read the exact same advice I gave from the beauty editors of InStyle magazine. IF you have blue eyes try a copper or gold tone and let us know if you still think it does not look good.
Ok calm down everyone! Take it from someone with blue eyes! We know what looks good on us and we DO NOT need no matter who you are. You both are right actually! It all depends on what shade of blue eyes and if there are other flakes of color on your eyes. Purples, plums, pink, taupes, golds, silvers.....you name it we know what looks good on us!

That was rude. And I have hazel green eyes and I put green and brown eyeshadow on and it totally made my eyes stand out you dont know what your talking about. Also you should learn how to spell because kk isn't a word.
never ever wear the same color shadow as your eyes!!! it won't match! and the point of makeup isn't to enhance your outfit, but to enhance your face!
yep.. i have blue-green eyes... so it might be a little different if u have a PURE blue eye, but me not like green on blue eyes, i think green looks good on brown and hazel eyes ^^
purple also makes blue eyes stand out i used to use purple eyeliner and it popped my eye color right out !@

green eyes should use earth tones, like other greens, browns, and natural colors. just experiment, find what u like... sure, when if u try a color like red u wont look so good, but its fun to play with! ^.^
