Face Beauty Tip

Get summertime facial shine under control

Get summertime facial shine under controlWith the hot, humid weather of summer upon us, it's a constant battle against oil and shine.

Try to avoid repeated application of face powder to the "T-zone" which can result in build-up of product and dreaded creasing.

Keep a packet of oil blotting sheets in your purse to absorb excess oil and you'll keep looking fresh faced all day.

I love oil blotting sheets, but they can get really pricy. I go to my local beauty supply store and buy perm papers, they do the exact same thing at fraction of the cost. I just keep a few on me in an old altoids box.

You know, I saw a thing on tv that you can, to be cheap, use the seat covers in the public bathrooms, new unused ones of course, to blot the oil from your face. It is just tissue paper that you press on your face in the oily areas, not blending motion, as you will smear the makeup. It takes the oil off the top of the skin/makeup and makes your face more matte looking. Good in hot weather especially.

i do that when im at the clubs danceing and it works very good

ch_lovin... replied: Fri, 2007-10-19 14:59

they are awesome because they don't smudge your make up when you use them.

Merry Meet All,

I carry a pretty handkerchief w/ me when the oily face starts to be a real problem. They're washable & added a nice stmt to my outfit.

I find many of mine at thrift stores & flea markets, but u can also get them at dept. stores.

Bless~ed Be! & Hugs

It is really just tissue paper, and I think the main idea with that is that you won't mess up the makeup like you may with a hankie or something else. the tissue just gets the oil on top of the makeup.

I have really bad acne what do you guys use? does pro-active work?

goofygirl replied: Sun, 2007-09-16 16:55

yes, but an aloe is better and natural. Purchase a large leaf aloe. Cut one large leaf off from bottom of plant. Freeze. Peel hard skin off. Cut the rest into 1 or 2 inch pieces, place half in blender for topical astringent, puree, strain through fine sieve, store in glass jar in fridge (the coolness is soothing). For scrub, add 1/4 cup fine sea salt to the other half, grind until a little grainy. Cleanse with Cetaphil (Walmart brand), scrub gently with your hands, rinse, then use astringent. Twice a day. Within a week, great results, not much money. My age 51, still have acne, this works great, costs little, and over time you just use as a preventive. Flareups can be handled by cleanse, scrub, aloe on small bandaid over flare at night.

I use to break out a lot until I found Clearasil Depp Cleanse daily face wash. i only break out around that time of the month now and it's really minor. How does that aloe on the bandaid work? what kind of aloe vera? off the plant or can you get it in stores?

goddness replied: Sun, 2007-10-07 02:13

ki_actfreak wrote: Tue, 2007-10-09 17:11

yup those oil blotting things work- but boy, baby, do they get expensive! i'm not super rich here! anyways a really good alternitive is to go into the bathroom and use a toilet seat cover to blot your face. Its made out of the same material. and the best thing is its FREE!!!
hope this helped

Can someone please tell me how to apply mascara on your bottom lashes without getting it every where, I try all the time and I always get it on my nose. HELP!

ch_lovin... replied: Tue, 2007-10-23 17:45

damn how long are your bottom eyelashes? just kidding I usually close my eye and put mascara on my top by combing them upward with the wand and usually it gets my bottom ones too. If not turn your wand to the point is pointed at your eye and sweep it across your lashes but not too much.

ch_lovin... replied: Mon, 2007-12-10 14:56

or just put it on them and use a q-tip to clean it off and then apply a concealer.
