How to minimize your pores

How to minimize your pores
Making your pores look smaller starts with choosing a good exfoliating cleanser.
While it's impossible to shrink the actual size of your pores, there are ways to minimize their appearance. Start by reducing the amount of oil on your skin, which can clog up your pores and make them look bigger. Wash your face twice a day with an exfoliating cleanser that contains ingredients like salicylic acid to slough away the gunk in your pores. Follow that up with an oil-free, noncomedogenic moisturizer (use one with at least an SPF 15 during the day since sun damage can stretch out your pores). Once a week, use an at-home microdermabrasion or chemical peel kit to remove dead skin cells so your skin looks smoother and your pores are less noticeable.

Try your local Beauty supply store, Luck!

maryssavdb replied: Thu, 2009-05-28 19:45

Try Phisoderm, It works really well and you can find it at any drug store and it works well, however if you have really dry skin you'll nead an oil free moisterizer as well. I know that neutrojena has a couple good moisturisers as well.

BAKING SODA - exfoliant.
my family has a history of cystic acne and large pores. while i could not help the cystic acne leaving scars anyway, i could help the pores: i have used Cetaphil cleanser and baking soda(as my exfoliant) together for over 10yrs. I take off my make up w/ the cetaphil and use the baking soda 3-4x's per week -- usually in the shower (i keep a plastic bottle of it in there). Occasionally, i will mix the 2 together before getting inthe shower. [when i do not use the baking soda after make up removal, i use a facial cleanser and a cloth to actually clean my face after removing the makeup.] Some people tell me that i shouldn't use the baking soda b/c it is too acidic....but my face is proof that it works for me {i am a redhead w/ fair skin and freckles-- sensitive skin w/ mild rosacea). Do not use on burnt/damaged skin. if i am irritated, i use aloe vera in place of moisturizer. some people have said that this is too drying...but, again, it has worked very well for me...esp in the heat of summer.

Am in my 50s and always suffered from large pores especially on my nose. Didnt know you couldnt shrink them. I started exfoliating my face twice a day with one of those exf. mitts about a year ago and then using Nivea moisturiser. This done the trick for me and now you cant notice my pores.I will bring the baking soda into the process using the mitt at the same time. Nothing ventured .......

arshi450 wrote: Wed, 2009-08-12 21:44

also you use icecubes to minimize your pores.
that helped me a lot! and avoid using too much chemical products and go for natural home made things like slice up a tomato and rub it on your skin for open pores and getting rid eof black heads. it may sound grossss but helps A LOTTT I TELL YOU!

jencbee wrote: Sun, 2010-02-21 10:34

nushabbir wrote: Thu, 2010-03-25 13:57

is microdermaverision is beeter for acne and oily
skin

beautyfiend2 wrote: Wed, 2010-04-07 03:32

Who wrote this? Seriously? Exfoliate 2 times a day! That's rediculous! You'll end up drying out your skin so bad that if you have oily skin it'll go into overload and creat oil slicks.

keener80 replied: Wed, 2010-04-07 08:52

I agree... I read the comments hoping someone would pick up on it. I'm glad you did. It's crazy, twice a week is what's recommended, no? Exfoliating any more than that is too harsh for your skin.

sheilas3sons wrote: Tue, 2010-04-20 16:52

You can always pick up a exfoliator at your Dermotologist. I go to a dermotologist here in Orlando and she has her own skin care line products.Exfoliation is the key to reducing pores as other people have already commented on. Her products also contain salicylic acid as well.
