3 Signs You Need A New Cut

Kristin_Cavallar_June_20_2008.jpg As the saying goes, change is a good thing—especially when it comes to your hairstyle. Clearly that's a hot mantra here at Daily Makeover. Even if you totally love your hairstyle, you should still tweak it a bit now and then so it's always fresh. We asked LA salon owner Neil George (he just tuned-up Kristin Cavallari's hairstyle, at left) for this top three warning signs that your hairstyle is getting too stale.

1. Fashions change every season—and so should your hairstyle. "This sounds obvious, but a lot of women will go out and buy a whole new wardrobe without even thinking of how they are going to update their hairstyle," advises George. "At the very least, you should go to your stylist twice a year to get a fall/winter and a spring/summer look," he says.

2. When you don't take the time to style your hair with the right products and tools, this signals that you are uninspired by your hair. Sure, wash'n'wear hair is easy and cute (especially during the summer), but for your hair to look absolutely fabulous (think date night), you need to style it like a pro. So if you don't know how to work it, you should check in with your stylist for a refresher cut and styling course.

3. Humid weather aside, if you throw your hair into a ponytail almost every day, your current cut isn't right for you. "This is a sign that you just don't know what to do with your current haircut," says George.

I am a personal trainer for a living, although I work part time style hours, I am also a competitor so I am either training myself or someone else in the gym and fitting in my training between so my hair is in bun or pony most of that time. When I am off season I then am able to wear hair down and or styled and look a bit more fancy as I won't be sweating or my training is not a frequent.......so do i still fall into the ponytail rule?

Thank you,

kiaramonee wrote: Tue, 2008-07-22 14:12

but...isn't it true that once you get a chemical straightener...you're stuck with it??????

roxmysox99 wrote: Thu, 2008-08-07 23:17

no! u can get it to only last a couple months!

mandirav wrote: Wed, 2008-07-23 12:35

I have got my hair straightened twice with chemical straighteners (professional Japanese straightening) and you can never get stuck with it because natural hair eventually grows out from roots. The problem with my hair is that I have curly and frizzy hair, so my straightening wears out very fast and I have to depend upon straightening iron most of the times… Can anyone advise if it is okay to use iron all the time?

my hair is really thin and my face is long, i also have a big forehead. right now my hair is long, covering my shoulder blades. i have heard so many times that people with thin hair should never have long hair but for some reason i can't let go of it. i plan on getting side bangs to cover up my forehead but i can't decide between 2 haircuts, keeping it long or cutting it above my shoulder and layering it up, pretty much like a bob style cut. can someone help because i've tired out my mother and friends asking for advice!

Pfff... Change your style every season?! Are you kidding me? Maybe I need to buy a whole new wadroub too? And a new car? And tall dark hair guys are not popular in that season, so I have to tell my boyfriend: "Sorry, babe you r not in style!" And I have to change... EVERY season!
Oh, please! Write something for real people, not only for celebrities, who only thinks about their hair&nails.
