Cure Damaged Hair

Cure Damaged Hair
Get your hair back into prime condition like Lauren Conrad's.

Ah summer. Lazy days of soaking up the sun, having fun at the beach and lounging poolside. Now that the season is drawing to a close, beach-withdrawal isn't the only problem you're going to have to cope with—the sun, sand and sea can wreak absolute havoc on your hair. Here's how to do damage control after too much summer fun.

Use a deep conditioner on dried out hair
The sun, chlorine and saltwater can all cause a host of health issues for your strands: breakage, split ends, loss of luster and dryness are just a few. Trichologist (hair doctor) Philip Kingsley recommends using a deep re-moisturizing mask like Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Extreme on your hair every other day, PRIOR to shampooing. Dry, unwashed hair absorbs product better, allowing your strands to get the optimal amount of moisturization.

Be gentle on your strands
While your hair rehabilitates, try to refrain from overheating it with styling tools. Avoid vigorous brushing, which can lead to even more breakage. To get rid of snarls, spritz hair generously with a detangling spray like Modern Organic Products Pear Detangler, then use a wide tooth comb to gently detangle knots.
