Hair Beauty Tip

Haircare shopping

Haircare shoppingEver wonder if it's really worth it to shell out the extra $5 to $10 for professional hair care products?

Cheaper products can contain alcohol, harsh detergents, and resins that may damage your hair and leave a dull residue behind.

More expensive hairdresser's brands tend to be more gentle on your hair, contain ingredients such as sun filters, deep moisturizing ingredients, and antioxidants. Daily use can strengthen and nourish your hair and results will show in the long run.

Less expensive alternatives to salon products are the many mid-priced brands such as L'Oreal, Neutrogena, Pantene, Keihls, Revlon, and Joico (for example) that have excellent quality products.

What could be the best shampoo for curly hair?

klaupit replied: Wed, 2007-03-07 13:32

Be Curly Shampoo and Conditioner by AVEDA

babydee9 replied: Wed, 2007-08-01 11:37

for myself i use Dove moisture shampoo and Conditioner or TreSemme,,
the best thing to do for curly hair is to use a one for smoothing straight hair or a moisture shampoo and then use curl products,, that's what i do, so it's a lot cheaper then buying salon stuff

born_confused90 replied: Sun, 2008-01-27 17:11

does tresemme actually work well for you? i bought the shampoo and conditioner, and it completely dried out my hair, but i didnt wanna waste them, so i finished all of the bottle, and n the meantime, i had to cover my hair in a bucket load of serums and stuff to make it look half decent!

babydee9 replied: Wed, 2007-08-01 11:45

a good one is Natruals Down under Clean Care and Drama Clean by Herbal Essences

the_real_jynxed wrote: Tue, 2007-09-18 16:23

hahaha Pantene is one of the worst products for your hair EVER!!!!!! Try an experiment... take a metal spoon, pour some pantene shampoo in it then light a lighter under it.... yeah... that clear stuff that separates from the white stuff, that's called WAX! and we all know that wax does nothing for the health of your hair, all it does if creates build up, and pantene is at least 60% wax. The general rule is that if you care more about price then buy suave dove and white rain... however if you want your hair to look like you have a membership to the beauty salon, put out the $20 for the high quality brands. You cant have your cake and eat it too.

leeann_07 replied: Tue, 2007-12-04 12:54

does pantene pro-v do that too? because right now, i'm using Herbal essances and i don't stick to the same shampoo & conditionner too long, i change kinds everytime i need new ones so i'm almost done the herbal essances. should i go with the pantene pro-v?

ok.. i agree on that comment about pantene. but wat about dove?! i thot it was a good compromise. wat do u think?

silkdragon14 replied: Sat, 2007-10-20 14:24

dove works really well for my hair. it makes it soft and extra shiny. i now try and use the moisture one. i've never had problems.

azraz wrote: Sat, 2007-10-27 02:02

I've used pantene few times and my hair just didn't feal right. I use redken when I can afford. tresseme works great

meowneko wrote: Sat, 2007-11-10 01:32

WHAT???!!! Pantene is the greatest shampoo/conditioner product at the drugstore. I may be biased because I have typical asian hair (thick, course and stick straight) but Pantene is the only product that leaves my hair silky, shiny and soft. I wish they would change the scent though. I love the scent of Clairol's Herbal Essences hello hydration (moisturizing) Coconut and white orchid...yum! But it doesn't leave my hair as soft and silky. I've tried all the expensive salon stuff too, but because the products are so "rich" it makes my head itchy! Paul Mitchell products are okay though, but for the price I'll stick with Pantene. Forget the cheap stuff (Suave, White Rain, etc.) You actually use more product because it's so watered down (thus the cheaper price!) and it doesn't do a very good job for asian hair. I did not like Dove because it seemed to make my hair dryer and frizzy. Tresemme smells great but the quality is equal to Suave.

sideparted17 wrote: Wed, 2007-11-28 19:16

i use Suave Proffesionals Humectant Shampoo and it works really well. I dont really know if proffessionals is different from plain old suave, but it works better for me!

i have a friend who has sooooooo thick hair and she has always used Pantene. what should i suggest to her?

Hi guys I have wavy hair and I use Kiehl's Protein Concentrate chamomille extract shampoo and I Love it!!!!!! but I need to ask u what are the best products(mousse, spray, shampoo, conditioner, etc) for my hair I need some products that are good either when I have my hair straight or when I have it wavy. When
my hair is wavy right now
I use
herbal essences
volumizing
mouse I love how it leaves my hair whith not even one frizz!!! and when I have straight hair I use Tigi Control freak.PLEASE HELP MEEEEEE!!!!!!! Bye and have a nice day

alexjael88 replied: Thu, 2007-12-06 00:44

I also have wavy hair, and I also use Herbal Essences Volumizing Mousse. As or hairspray, I use Tresemme Tres Two to keep y hair in place. Also tresemme curl care is a good gel, but with the herbal essences mousse, you don't need gel, just the mousse and a little hairspray. When I straighten my hair I use a frizz serum called Zero Frizz. This can also work when you want soft curls, there's a Zero Frizz misting spray. Just put on the Serum and the spray, and you're wavy hair will look tamed. Also for volume, I use the shampoo and conditioner Infusium 23 for volume. Hope this works for, because I always get great comments on my hair!!

I have tried Fruit Kicks and i HATE IT!!! it's the worst kind ever.. it smells Sooooo badd!!! DO NOT TRY IT! IT'S AWFUL!

I have beautiful straight hair. I don't have to straighten them (if i blow-dry and brush them after my shower) What's the best shampoo & conditionner to use? (not more than 15$)
