Prevent post-exercise "bacne"

Prevent post-exercise Is post-exercise "bacne" putting a damper on your workout schedule? Try wearing exercise gear that is fast-drying and moisture-wicking (to keep sweat and bacteria away from the skin).

These "technical" fabrics will keep you cool, dry, and comfortable, making your workouts more enjoyable and breakout free.

So what do you do about your face??

jamie420922 replied: Wed, 2007-10-03 16:25

I would say don't wear make up and use oil free products. Also, wash your face/take a shower immediately after working out.

cody369 replied: Fri, 2007-11-30 19:45

proactive is good i use it and it works:)

runner11 replied: Fri, 2008-07-04 11:17

I've also tried proactive and that is the only product that seems to work.

shellychao replied: Tue, 2008-12-16 23:49

Though I agree that Proactive does work, you must be very commited to using it. You can't go a day or two without it, or BOOM, zit explosion. So if you are travelling or something and you forget it, bummer for you.

More specific please! What types of clothes are those??? What types of fabric??? What a broad tip.

liz906 replied: Thu, 2007-10-04 09:30

Different brands call this type of technical fabric different things. For example, Nike calls it 'Dri-Fit' while Reebok calls it 'PlayDry'. The main thing you should look for on the tag are words like 'moisture wicking' or 'breathable' when they are describing the fabric.

Would it be better to exercise naked? Or would your sweat not get soaked up and make your acne worse? Please let me know! Thanks

ch_lovin... wrote: Wed, 2007-10-03 17:30

They mean breathable fabric. some sport bras say stuff like that. If you go to the gym the best way not to break out is wash your face right after adn then go home and take a shower. the best scne wash is Clearasil daily face wash. I don't hardly breakout anymore!

mcbeckers wrote: Wed, 2007-10-03 20:05

is 'bacne' a spelling mistake or wat? u should put acne absorbers or something on your face.

liz906 replied: Thu, 2007-10-04 09:32

I think it's a play on words, back + acne = bacne. Not a commonly used term for sure but not the first time I've heard acne on the back described this way.

ch_lovin... replied: Fri, 2007-10-05 15:36

You get bacne when sweat, dirt or oil stays on the skin too ling like acne except you know when you exercise you sweat. to prevent it take a shower right after a workout they even have neutrogena body wash.

I've always wondered how some ethnic groups keep skin so young and acne free without the "breathable dry-fit" expensive name brands we rely on constantly.I was very fortunate to live in these places when people work hard (both women & men) doing similar chores no different from us - women cleaning houses and men with outdoor chores like the yard and all -work as if theyre workin out etc.... I've heard comments from both genders after a hard day work things such as "relax a little until the sweat dries off before taking a shower". While relaxing, this is when both genders read a magazine/ newspaper, gossip etc. and drinking water or tea - not alcohol or anything too exotic. I think this allows our bodies its natural course to get rid of waste- yes this is how some of our water is rid from the body, thru sweating- and at the mean time taking a non-stressful break from a hard days work. As soon as the body is done getting rid of the small particles thru sweat, now its your role to clean out the skin surface with a simple soap and scrubber that are in-expensive. You were just sweating so the pores are still open. Start by a long rinse before you even apply soap then take a warm shower to thoroughly get unwanted particles your body sweat got rid of through your skin. These men/women/ which also influence their kids usually take a break anywhere from a 1/2 hr to 2hrs but not 5 hours after you sweat. Wait long enough til your sweat is starting to dry but not totally. Your skin reacts to outside temperature so taking a warm or cold shower right away might cause your skin to react quickly to the shower temperature and not taking its course to naturally rid of unwanted body substances. You can guess this is what I do now. The results? I get compliments all the time from different ethnicity, different gender, different places that I am 15 - 20 years younger than I look.

ch_lovin... replied: Wed, 2007-12-05 16:49

Just wash your face and or use a damp wash cloth or baby wipes and clean yourself after your classes if showers aren't available.

cody369 wrote: Fri, 2007-11-30 19:43

i have it on my back and im scared to wear tank tops and stuff that shows my back so would i only have to wear tanks tops and stuff when am at home or both at school and home i also kindda have it on mychest to what do i do about that?

ch_lovin... replied: Wed, 2007-12-05 16:48

Try any acne wash on your body. Sometimes oil or even soap can accumulate in those spots if you don't wash it good. Like when you rinse off your hair wash off your chest and back so that no shampoo or conditioner accumulate there. It happens. I know neutrogena has a body wash which can be found anywhere I think in the acne washes.

virtu-elle replied: Tue, 2011-06-21 17:00

For that tip about washing your chest/back after shampoo/conditionner , maybe just doing the hole anti-acne body wash thing as the last step of your shower routine so that you really clean everything from soap to shampoo to conditionner. Is that what you meant ?
