wow thats cool I ran up the stairs 20 times a day for a week and I lost 6 pounds. And Ii look good in my party dress

katt_meow13 wrote: Sat, 2007-09-08 23:20

Also, if you just hold yourself in the splits (doesn't have to be all the way down, just as far as you yourself can go) for about three minutes each day, you'll be able to go all the way down. Not immediately, in fact, depending on your starting point it can take months, but it's still getting there.

Hey i have a problem i think i am starting to get fat, does anyone know how to lose 20 pounds in a number of days?

christina_93 replied: Wed, 2008-01-02 14:46

I you want to lose weight DO NOT use any of the food or pills or anything like that because they do not work!! They may help you lose weight but they are very unhealthy! The best way to lose weight is to excercise and eat healthy. Do not take in more calories then you burn! That is the #1 rule. Muscle burns more calories than fat, so go and get those muscles!

hope14 replied: Sun, 2008-01-20 23:18

I tried exercising but it just does not work and i do NOT want to take pills. Do you think i should try again?

virtu-elle replied: Tue, 2011-06-21 17:12

If you think about losing 20 lbs , you shouldn't think about days but weeks. Miracle diets , diets pills , meal-replacing-tasteless-some-kind-of-stuff just won't work for long-term. Think about what made you gain that weight ( is it food , lack of physical exercise , alcohol etc ) and slowly start making changes in your life style.

virtu-elle replied: Tue, 2011-06-21 17:15

sorry , I didn't see your last comment about pills & stuff :)

One question.
How should you stretch? Do you have any routine you can share with us?

candaceb wrote: Sun, 2007-09-23 12:24

I was wondering if anyone could possibly tell me what I could do to help myself gain some weight. I just cant seem to gain weight!!

mchristianson replied: Sun, 2007-10-28 23:34

You can try eating more food (it doesn't have to be unhealthy food, but you aren't going to gain weight if you don't increase the number of calories you are eating). Just make sure that you are making healthy choices and are being active! Adding strength training can help you gain weight (muscle weighs more than fat). You don't need to go to the gym to do either. Just use your own body weight. You can do squats (keep legs about shoulder width apart and pretend you are going to sit on a chair behind you), lunges (take a step with one leg and then drop the back knee to the floor, making sure that the knee of your front foot doesn't go past the toe). There is also push ups, crunches, wall sits, leg lifts etc... You don't need a gym to do strength training exercises. Strength training (especially squats and lunges) can also help prevent osteoporosis!

Hey thanks for the tips on things I could do at home and not only at the gym. I always found that I did eat a lot but maybe still not enough. I am very hyper active and get stressed quite easily so Im guessing that is also the cause of my lack of weigth gain. Doing yoga to relax and then some strength training should help out a lot. Thanks =0)

danetta wrote: Mon, 2007-10-01 07:00

sprinting's the best. I gain muscle really fast, like 2kg of it (I cant remember how long it took though, maybe a month). thats more than 4 pounds? Add strength training like weights to it :)

candaceb replied: Wed, 2007-10-03 06:24

hmmm but in the winter here its freeeeeeeeezing out and i dont have access to a gym to do it. i try to stretch every morning though.

danetta replied: Sat, 2007-10-06 23:35

oh hm, thats tough then. Sorry!

ki_actfreak wrote: Tue, 2007-10-09 17:57

yup. . .EXCEPT ALWAYS DO A LIGHT JOG OR SOME OTHER WARM UP FIRST!!! NEVER EVER DO STRETCHING FIRST IT WEAKENS THE TENDONS AND MIGHT EVEN DO A LOT OF HARM!!!
SO JOG, THEN DO YOUR WORKOUT, THEN STRETCH! TRUST ME I DANCE, PLAY SOCCER, AND BASKETBALL!!!

mothergoose1 wrote: Thu, 2007-10-11 18:18

I have a yoga routine that has increased my flexibility, and it even helps improve your mood. It's a natural way to lose weight without too much strain on the heart which concerns me. I was born with a heart defect and with my yoga, I lose weight, get toned and focus better during the day without overdoing it. It's a positive, life-affirming routine to adopt.

katelyn24 replied: Thu, 2009-01-29 03:56

whats your yoga routine? I've always been kind of interested in it.

candaceb wrote: Fri, 2007-10-12 06:45

Hmmm well I usually always go for a quicked paced walk every other morning with my dog so I am pretty much warmed up already for stretching. I am also a very active person in the winter too which I thought would help out for muscle gain which would lead to weight gain eventually. But nothing seems to work very much, lol. However I am a very stressed out person so maybe some yoga will help me relax and then something will start to work. **still trying to figure out how to put the pounds on**

ch_lovin... wrote: Fri, 2007-10-12 14:14

I got it candaceb you could sit on the couch watch tv, eat chocolate and do nothing! That will help you gain weight! hehe :D

candaceb replied: Sat, 2007-10-20 09:22

Hehehe sounds like fun. =)
But I dont think it would be a good idea.

sideparted17 wrote: Mon, 2007-10-15 18:23

what kind of yoga? do you take a yoga class? also, when do you have time to do yoga? i like yoga, but i never have time to complete a routine.

ch_lovin... replied: Fri, 2007-11-09 12:46

Pilates is great too! It Increases flexibility and tones you too. You can buy the DVDs and do it at home. Also, if you have a 24 hour fitness, they have yoga and pilates classes, it was fun and you got a good workout too.
