I used a over the counter bar of soap called panoxyl, you can find it at rite-aide, walgreens or walmart etc. It really worked. You have to wash your face at night and in the morning and use little moisturizer.

This routine may help lighten darker skin discolorations. The Lemon Juice acts like a bleach on the skin. If you apply this and go out in the sun for 15 minutes, eventually the lemon juice will bleach the skin. All the sugar does is exfoliate the spot. IF you use this mixture, make sure you moisturize afterwards. Also, don't expect it to work overnight. Natural products take a LONG time to work. As far as how often, the lemon juice can be used daily. If you add the sugar, don't use it more than twice a week or it may irritate the skin.
