Make That Pimple Disappear!

Make That Pimple Disappear!
Lauren Conrad is all smiles and no blemishes.
Zits have an uncanny ability to surface at the worst times (like before a big action-packed weekend or a nerve-racking job interview). The trick to making your blemish disappear quickly is to diagnose what kind of eruption you're up against, then treat it accordingly.

*A superficial pimple—the kind that is on the surface of your skin and can be tempting to pop—can be cured by using a spot treatment that contains the maximum amount of either salicylic acid (2%) or benzoyl peroxide (10%). Treat your pimple morning and night, and bring down any swelling by icing it for 10 minutes. These tactics should zap your zit within a day or two, and in the meantime you can keep it covered with a blemish-fighting concealor.

*If you're cursed with a cystic pimple—those are the ones that are imbedded deep in your skin and can be painful when you press it—you'll need to visit your dermatologist to see fast results. A quick cortisone injection will shrink that volcano down within a day.

NO DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE ARE YOU CRAZY?! ALL THAT WILL DO IS DRY YOUR SKIN OUT!

smiley_face replied: Sat, 2008-07-19 23:31

if you have oily skin, drying it is the point...and since acne is caused mostly my oils, toothpaste is effective, i use it all the time and i actually get compliments about my skin

perfidiouspook replied: Mon, 2008-07-28 06:17

Everyone's skin is different, but commonly your skin will begin to OVERPRODUCE oil to compensate for the dryness. My skin began to clear up when I used a heavier moisturizer.

AggieKat replied: Wed, 2008-08-27 01:18

For years I used astringents, the highest levels of Benzoyl Peroxide, alcohol, peroxide, and anything I thought could treat my acne.

I would break out horribly, and it was a constant fight.

As soon as I started treating my skin as if it were "sensitive" skin, and abandoned the harsh products, it behaved!

If you strip your skin of the oils, it will overproduce and you'll break out more. Try something like Cetaphil cleanser for sensitive skin morning and night. It works great. Spot treat with a lower level of salicylic acid spot treatment...I use 1% instead of 2%...Clinique's on-the-spot product.

zebra_chic replied: Fri, 2008-08-22 22:17

idk

AggieKat replied: Wed, 2008-08-27 01:21

My mom always told me it was "vain" to be embarrassed about it, but it was very frustrating for me.

There are a lot of products out there...not all work for all people.

Try treating your skin as if it's sensitive...gentle cleansers and do NOT touch your face...no picking!

I have even used Neosporin on small bandaids to treat acne overnight...when they're infected, sometimes this will also do the trick. There's bacteria in there!

tooth paste does not get rid of pimples, people use to use it thinking it would dry them out, however with all the stuff the put into toothpaste now, it will actually make MORE pimples than it will clear

i use proactiv and its the best!! i put it on in the morning and at night and it pretty well keeps acne gone!&& toothpaste makes it worse! :P

rina168 wrote: Sun, 2008-07-27 02:09

I don't know about others but for me personally, I do use toothpaste occasionally when a pimple or two popped out, also I love applying calamine lotion on affected areas. DHC comes out with some really good acne spot therapy cream. It clears the pimple out within a day or two. Try it!

kassidynicole replied: Fri, 2008-08-15 02:25

how much is it cuz u no that different products work 4 different people and i dont want to spend alot of money on something that wont work 4 me like 4 proactiv 4 example some people it works great and others it makes it worse HERE SOME ADVISE U USE A STEP PROGRAM TO GET RID OF UR ACNE 4 THE CLEANSER U REALLY HAVE TO SRUB DONT JUST RUB IT SCRUB SCRUB SCRUB SO IT GET INTO UR SKIN

AggieKat replied: Wed, 2008-08-27 01:24

Actually, if you scrub too hard and strip the oils, you can cause your skin to produce more oil.

ProActive didn't work for me, and only made my skin worse.

Clinique makes a GREAT spot treatment, and I think it's around $10. It's not as strong as the other treatments, but the other spot treatments also made me break out worse.

Don't put it on broken skin. The key is to put the spot treatment on the pimple as soon as you feel it under the skin. It will usually go away BEFORE it comes to the surface. If you pick it or pop it, then try these treatments, they just don't work.
