If there's one thing I can't get enough of, it's Tim Gunn. I have a serious obsession with the "Make It Work" man. I've even got a bobblehead of him on my desk at work, that's how bad it is.
Recently, after watching back-to-back episodes of Tim Gunn's Guide To Style, that obsession has grown to include his absolutely charming co-host on the show, Gretta Monahan. She's a celebrity stylist, Dove spokestylist and fashion expert extraordinaire and I was lucky enough to sit down with her recently at a Dove summer hair event.
Gretta's been in the industry for years and is a total trendsetter and spotter -- she owns her own boutiques and salons and is constantly on top of what's new and what's next. She gave me the lowdown on what's hot in hairstyles for summer and how you can get the looks at home.

Embellishments
"Hair embellishments were seen all over the runways this year and are an easy and fast way to revamp your look without the expense of expanding your wardrobe," says Gretta. Besides the usual baubles and bling, she also recommends being creative and incorporating fashion trends like leather and metal into your hair. A ribbon-sized strip of black leather tied loosely around a low ponytail or used as a thin circlet headband creates a hip, edgy look that's anything but boring.

40's Pinup
The literal interpretation of the retro pinup girl has had its moment; the modern interpretation of this style focuses less on historical accuracy and more on sophisticated sexiness. Instead of piling on prim and proper pin curls, try a naturally textured and slightly volumized half-up hairstyle. Separate hair into three sections: top, sides and back. Using a curling iron held vertically, take small sections of hair and wrap them around the inside of the iron, keeping the curls close to the scalp and pulling the iron down (like you would when curling a ribbon). Lightly backcomb the crown of your hair, tease it and then smooth over with a soft brush. Hold in place with a few bobby pins and a spritz of hairspray.

Working Girl
For an office-appropriate updo, choose a knot or a roll -- they look serious without being stuffy. To get the look, first work a frizz-fighting cream throughout wet hair. Gretta likes Dove's Frizz Control Therapy Taming Cream. Blow dry hair, then pull it back tightly into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. For a trendier take on this style, you can place the ponytail slightly to the right or left to create a sleeker version of the latest celeb hair craze, the sexy side bun. Secure hair with an elastic, then take the ponytail and sweep it over in the opposite direction of the base of the ponytail and then up. Use bobby pins to pin the ends of the hair into the base of the ponytail.
