A model gets lippy with us.
Fall 2010 Fashion Week is shaping up to be a season of provocative and powerful looks. First we had the film noir starlet with a seriously smoky eye at Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. show and today at Christian Siriano's Fashion Week show, the ladies all rocked faux hawk french twist hairstyles, just-dare-me fuchsia lipstick and strong brows. The overall effect was equal parts fierce and feminine.
Victoria's Secret lead makeup artist Polly Osmond created a modern interpretation of a defined 1950's lip look by skipping the classic red lipstick and instead going with a deep matte fuchsia (Victoria's Secret Matte Cream Lipstick in Lavish, $12). The idea was to create a look that conveyed both ease and drama. To fill out the brows, Osmond used a brow brush to sweep a dark brown powder shadow along the natural brow shape, then took an eyeliner pencil and "flicked" it outwards to create a wispy "caterpillar" effect.

Aveda lead hairstylist Antoinette Beenders enhanced the tough meets tender vibe by twisting models' hair back into a French twist. She used Aveda Air Control hairspray on sections to help "gunk it up" and create texture, then took the front section, combed it up and pinned it into a pompadour. To give it extra-staying power she then sprayed the whole updo with new Control Force hairspray.
