It was a hard night of partying backstage at the Chris Benz Fall 2009 fashion show. Lancôme makeup artist Daniel Martin turned models into "uptown girls going to a downtown club in the Eighties."

First he washed out models complexions by using foundation that was two shades lighter than their skin tone. The idea was to get the same blown out effect as a Polaroid photo. Lips were a neutral beige and there was a subtle contouring on the cheeks.

The focal point of the look was the eyes, which Martin made "milky and slept-in" by rubbing a shimmery indigo cream liner on the lids and edges. He then applied a black gloss on top of the rubbed in liner, followed by "tons and tons" of mascara for a clumpy effect.
Hair was also inspired by the early Eighties party girl. Redken stylist John Ruidant fashioned a curly faux-bob that was slightly undone, as if models had been up all night dancing.

Lots of texturizer was sprayed into hair, which was then side-parted. Ruidant used a one inch curling iron to curl eight sections of hair (four on one side of the part, two on the other and one at the crown), leaving the back uncurled.

He backcombed the rear section of hair and pulled and looped it through a hair elastic. This was then folded under and pinned to create the faux-bob. The time-consuming style (Ruidant spent 45 minutes on each model) was finished off with a spritz of hairspray to lightly hold.
