These leading ladies made major waves with trend-setting cuts this past year.

Katie Holmes made her cropped shag one of the most-wanted hairstyles of 2008. Not only did this help her shed her sweet-as-cherry-pie image, but it's the ultimate busy-mom style because it's so low maintenance.
Rihanna rocks in her versatile crop. The nose-skimming long bangs can be styled in many ways, giving this short style lots of options.

My hair was long, but I had it cut a lot like Katie's. I didn't like it at first but it is a lot easier to fix, which is very nice when you have 4 kids.

I think they all look terrible and I can't believe your trying to get us to look like that!!!! They look better in the before than the after.

I have to disagree with the majority here, I think Rihanna pulls off both looks equally well. One is just more edgy, which is definitely the word I think of when I think Rihanna. Gwen's cut is fresh and makes her look younger but Katie now has long hair again and I think for her, that works best.
