Susan Boyle
Boyle, a 48-year-old Scottish charity worker, electrified viewers with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical Les Miserables during Saturday's Britain's Got Talent. The video clip of her performance has become a global YouTube hit.
When Extra contacted us this morning to help them give this singing sensation a makeover, we couldn't resist! We kept her look natural, but evened out her skintone with foundation, groomed her brows and opened up her eyes with mascara and soft grey liner.
As for her hairstyle, we tried two looks--a tousled bob and a sleek bob with bangs. Longer, sleeker hair gives her a more polished effect. I prefer the look with the bangs--they give her face more contour. Which do you like? Vote on Extra.com.
What does a makeover mean to you? Take our survey and tell us what you think. We'd love to hear from you!
Her beauty was always there!
Dear folks at Daily Makover,
I'll preface this by saying that you folks do nice work and you've found a flattering look for Susan. That's not the issue.
You may be some of the few people on the planet who didn't "get" the lesson that was taught by Susan's performance on Britain's Got Talent. In my opinion, many more of us admire and love this quaint Scottish gal who looks like our favorite auntie, just as she is.
Take care,
yj
Oh My Goodness!!!!!! She is ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i liked the tousled bob look. I have also made Susan over.
take a look and rate:

I like the makeover because she looks very natural...just a bit more "polished."
I'd like to see a cute layered "bob" framing her face. The cleaned up eyebrows, the light use of makeup all just look like "good grooming." I do think the "impact" of her performance was enhanced by the fact that she looked so plain.
She is just wonderful in any case.
As Always

I love makeovers and everyone should update their look every now and then!

What's the matter with people? Why must she change?
She's a beautiful person - and I thought that we learned something from her
the night her voice brought most of us to tears.
Stop with the suggestions of makeovers. If she chooses to make any sort of
superficial change, let it be of her own idea.
Susan Boyle is someone I like AS IS!
I would like to see her with cleaned up eyebrows and she would keep her natural hairstyle, she looks really natural cute, she just need a nice change of hair color and
keep his rolls nice and shine. With those new hairstyles even are very nice looks like
she lose some cute natural personality she posses.
GOSH! How stupid and vain! I like her way more in the first picture. She doesn't need any of your makeovers. GEEZ!!
She looks great with the bob. Its not a fundamental change in her character, its just maximizing her attributes. Most people, including Ms. Boyle, could use a makeover.
All three makeovers look awful! Those hairstyles are so cheap, and they only emphasize her double chin. She doesn't need to go blonde, she doesn't need her hair straighten. You people read to many glossy magazines. She just needs her brows trimmed and a bit of weight loss. Her natural charm will be preserved.
I read that she was not very pleased with how she looked when she watched her own performance. She's a normal woman and most likely would like to look better. That being said, I do think part of the phenomenal impact of her performance was her dowdy looks.( not putting her down; I look very frumpy most days)
I just don't want her used by the sharks and schemers. I would hate that. I hope someone will look out for her.She is exceptionally talented, deserving and has such a winning personality. Most of us ....fellow underdogs and dreamers...wish her success and true happiness.
I think her current hairstyle is soft, feminine, and attractive. Just brighten it up with the color and highlights of the bob-with-bangs. However, most of us would welcome a haircut that looks good and makes it easier for us to do our hair, so whatever works for her. I just didn't care for the makeover hairstyles. The layered is too "trying to look younger," yet some of the stripes look like that unfortunate former trend ... "frosted." Maybe I'd like the bob if it were shorter and swingier rather than chin-length.
New eyebrows definitely! And, although I understand that she'll be wearing makeup on TV and for photos, for everyday life, why use foundation topped with blush when she already has rosy cheeks?
This is absolutely disgusting. Why can't Susan be known for her inner beauty and talent? Who gives a flying f*ck about her hairstyle and outer appearance? Shallow, superficial, plastic Hollywood-blinded pigs, that's who. Positively sickening.

How can you do this!!???
Don't you understand that the appeal of Susan is substance over matter!!!! She's fine just as she is - and that's the reason why her appearance on the show has caught the attention of the world. And seeing and hearing her makes me wonder how much talent we never get to enjoy because they don't look like supermodels.....
A makeover should be a personal decision - nothing that you force on people!!!!
You just don't get it, do you?
LEAVE SUSAN ALONE TO MAKE HER OWN DECISIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You made her look ridiculous and people like you are part of the problem!
Hello, interesting what software can do this days but Ms. Boyle looks best the way she is.
What made Susan such a remarkable showwoman was her wondrous voice and her natural look. The only thing that might be changed is her eyebrows. Susan, refuse the hair re-do!
She got talent and she got her unique look ... let's enjoy her as she is!
She looks better in the before pictures! Granted she could use some make up help but giving her a look that apes someone 20 yrs younger is not what she needs.
We love Susan, but as image consultants specializing in women over 40, we would love to get our hand on her so that her outside matches her adorable personality and incredible talent. Here are our tips:
http://www.fabulousafter40.com/if-susan-boyle-were-to-get-a-makeover/
Neither of your makeovers are an improvement on the original. I'm not opposed to makeovers, per se. A bit of hairstyling and help in selecting more flattering clothes can help us all. But your suggested hairdos are awful. Any makeover should enhance the beauty one already has. Why would you straighten her wavy hair rather than use it to create a much more natural and flattering style? A makeover should not entirely change someone. It should enhance the beauty (and we all have it) we already bring with us. Ms. Boyle is already beautiful. It's up to us, and certainly a professional make-over artist to bring out her NATURAL beauty.
Susan taught us you CAN begin again at ANY AGE! Her gift is her voice and her sweetness. We all fell in love with who she IS not what she COULD be!
If she wants to change or update her look, that should be her choice; not the choice of the media, recording companies, or the general public.
Thank you, Susan, for teaching us all a lessons. "Don't judge a book by the cover, because the book is really good!"
Susan has a fantastic voice, and I cried every time I watched her. And if she wants a new look, then that should be her decision. As a woman, I would jump at the chance to have a makeover and I think most women would feel the same, including Susan. Every woman wants to look the best that she can, especially if she is going to be in the limelight.
Spoken like a New Yorker, and I couldn't agree more.
She is approachable. She reaches out to the heart. Make her plastic and she's just another singer.
YJ,
Thank you for writing this. I could not agree with you more.
thank you and your correct, they just don't get it do they? Its her inner self we find attractive. I"m sure no makeover is needed there.
I do like the first picture, but that said, under no circumstances should she have a makeover. Her look is part of her charm.
It is amazing how her inner beauty has been brought forth. all it takes is a little know how and the right products and hair stylist. She is not only stunning inside when she sings, she is now outwardly stunning. AMAZING!!
it's totally up to Susan if she'd like to spruce up a bit. But we girls always like to look our best ...
The simple hairdo change in these phtos is nothing radical or insulting. How many people still have the same hair style they had in high school because they can't figure out what to do with their hair? If it makes her happy, then we should butt out!
Thank God!!!
Susan is an example to a generation that is only interested in the outward appearance.
Most people now days are going around been afraid of who they really are and what they look like. Look around you..., fake nails, fake hair, fake eye color, fake names, fake
face and on and on ( scary don't you tjhink).
Susan is an example of a real person. She is a beautiful woman with a great gift and a wonderful talent. Let her be just as she is.
Let's be honest. Susan needs a lot of attention on so many levels.
I thought she was a man upon my first glance at the television screen.
She will never get kissed at the rate she is going now.
Anyone with big feet to start with should never wear white shoes.
And of course the brows want trimming. Even men trim their brows, for crying
out loud.
I don't even know what to say other than, I LOVE MUSIC. And when she
Came on to the stage all I noticed was her eyebrows were a little
Thick. Thats not a sin!
When she started to sing I got a lump in my throat. I immediately got
Tears and they continued to flow. I play that clip many times a day.
And about five times at least each time I listen to her and each time
Its the same lump, and the same amount of tears. I call everyone and my space all my friends telling them about her.
She has such a nice expression on her face and an adorable smile along
With that amazing voice.
Soon I hear she become famous I sure will go out and buy her c.d.,
A.s.a.p.
I feel i'll enjoy that beautiful voice as much as anyone. Can't wait to
Where it will take her in life. I love music as I said, earlier and her
Voice took my breath.
The VOICE is what it's all about. !!! Don't you get it ??? She'll make recordings.... and that's all that will matter. It's THE VOICE not THE LOOK.... She's GLORIOUS !!!
Thanks a lot for the beauticians that have done the makeover of Susan Boyles looks. thats good, she looks better and descent person. Its very important to have the makeover for susan becuase she is now a celebrity and presently performing in front of millions of televiewers and audiences.
Thumbs up
It is impossible for you to improve her.
Susan looks just fine and she has the voice of a ANGEL
Why do you want to change her? I myself think she looked better before your makeover? Do you REALLY think she looks better with the makeover????
i totally agree with you. I will like to add "you can't judge a book by its cover." God created all of us, with different looks, different talents. You could be the most beautiful person in the world and have no talent, or vice versa. Also, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it is also only skin deep. It is what is on the inside that counts, and with Susan Boyle, that beauty shines through, in more ways than one. I think Susan Boyle is beautiful, inside and out.
Good Grief! She looks so, so, so absolutely FAKE now. Give us back our frumpy everyday-from-a-group-of-little-Scottish-villages Susan! Why must everyone undergo a makeover when they are "discovered"? By painting her up, combing her down and thinning out her eyebrows you have managed to make her so much less noticeable than she was when she was her natural raw talent-waiting-to-wow-the-world self.
Susan Boyle has a magnetic personality, and a magnificently clear, exciting
voice. Slim down her eyebrows, keep her hair style soft . What's with the
trend that women over 40 should wear long, straight hair with long bangs?
All three makeovers create a dour, dowdy look (or too masculine, at best) that
her family and friends would not recognize. The photo of Susan after she had
left the local beauty salon with a wispy cut and her hair a little darker was
much better suited to her obvious feeling of well being than "the masterpieces'"
suggested by the "Make-Over" .
Good luck Susan - you will shine anywhere!

The plain and simple bob would be lovely on Susan. That style matches her background and voice. The layered bob is too much. She is not trying to be a teenager, she just needs a look that flatters her voice.
Susan is beautiful inside and out, with a god given talent.. a little help with her hair and make up is no big deal. When I first saw her I thought what a lot of snobby people thought, she is a cutie pie who "Thinks" she can sing, Oh my, embarrrassed for her.
Also I look younger than her, and I am old enough to be her Mother. "Gentetics"\
I also can sing a tune. Not one!!!
She is amazing! Sweet, gracious, talemnted and lovely.
~Jeannie
OMG, Susan is so beautiful just the way she is!! She put the "hollywood" types to shame for all of their shallow thoughts right there on performance night. I watch her performance over and over and over again, and I cry every single time. She is just so beautiful. Please, just leave her alone - she needs no enhancement. God gave her everything she needs - a beautiful spirit, indomitable courage, and the voice of an angel. God bless you, Susan, and we love you.
Please!, this is how others would like to see her because of their own shallowness. I wish they could see what a beautiful person she is ...as is. This is a wakeup call for those who want to make over everyone...I don't want everyone to look alike.
Please don't change, Susan, for the small thinkers or the PR people.
Stay as you are. It shows how little people know that want to try to make you glamerous in their eyes. In my eyes you are already much more glamerous than all of them because you are truly authentic. Remain true to yourself. If you wish to change anything, do it on your terms no matter what the pros or press may say.
Your voice is absolutely incredible !
All my wishes for you. I will buy your CD.
I say leave her alone. The way she looks is what makes her great!!!!
She may not look as polished as some think she should look, it's her voice that is polished. She is just fine the way she is.
Susan you are the greatest! thanks for sharing your beautiful voice with the world.
Leave Susan Boyle's hair alone. Those bobs look booby terrible. They do not suit her at all. She looks better with curly hair. Just the way she wears it. So there!
Susan Boyle is so refreshing -- she is alive and vibrant and beautiful. She has an inner beauty that comes through so compellingly when she is just herself. The only
thing that she should do is to keep her eyebrows trimmed, and wear some lipstick. Her hair is cute when it is short. If she wants to put on some makeup base and light touches of color and wear mascara, that is probably fine. However, she looked quite good in her final performance. It is what comes out of her -- her spirit that makes her so wonderful, and that remarkable voice. I was saddened to see the changes that the makeovers do to her. You just don't want to paint the REAL her out of the picture. Susan, I love your music, and I love your humanity. Stay just as you are! Cynthi G
When she didn't get a make-over, she seemed more like the normal woman of the world. not the stunningly beautiful and very fake Hollywood stars. She relates to the natural beauty of woman everywhere without the make-over.
I think she looked best during the 'finals'. She had a little bit of a make over, but nothing that drastically changed her appearance. Also her dress was very becoming to her. Basically, though, I think she's mainly beautiful because of her beautiful voice.
ditto she has more innner beauty than these makeover ppl could ever dream about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
