Looking for a way to make a dramatic hair statement in the new year? Why not try a pixie! The super short style is definitely an attention-getter, something the always stunning Halle Berry knows all too well. The gorgeous star recently lopped off her locks in favor of a chic crop. To find out if the style is right for you, we asked Tresemmé celebrity stylist Mara Roszak for her tips on taking the pixie plunge. Read on to see if you're a prime candidate for this bold and beautiful hairstyle.

Know your face shape. Not every face shape can pull off this look. "A pixie looks best on a delicate face because it really emphasizes your facial features," says Roszak. If your face is very square or round, a crop will only act to enhance its width and any sharp angles or puffy areas, drawing attention to features you may not want to exaggerate. If your face is oval- or heart-shaped, you're in the clear. Not sure what your face shape is? Take our face shape quiz to find out.

Do a test run. For many women, their long locks can serve as a security blanket, letting them hide their faces when they're feeling self-conscious or moody. Once that hair is gone, so is that so-called security and it won't be growing back anytime soon. "It's very freeing and fun to have a short cut like this, you just have to be ready," says Roszak. To see if you can handle it, she suggests pulling your hair off your face for a few days in a row. If you're comfortable with that, then you can handle a cropped cut.

Take small steps. If you're still a little wary, consider following Halle's example: Instead of chopping her hair off all at once, she had her stylist cut her hair into a short bob, then waited a month before she opted for the crop. "It's a big decision to make. Sometimes it's better to ease into a big change, especially if you are going from long to super short," says Roszak. "Making sure you are ready for a change is key," she says. If you do decide to go for the extreme all-at-once chop, consider donating your hair to a charity like Locks Of Love, so you can help support a great cause as you unveil a whole new you.

So how about it, would you dare to wear a pixie?

Honestly NO ONE Looks Good With A Pixie! It Has To Be The Ugliest NON Feminine Look For A Woman---Longer Hair Is Sexy---Half An Inch Scalping Pixies Are NOT!
Thank You,
Chris Peitel

Chris you are just intimidated my strong women that is why you have pixie cuts. Pixie cuts are the cuttest women who have them are strong and not afraid to express themselves!!!!

it's not very attractive and it's not feminine at all....it's cute, but not for a full grown woman. she was much more beautiful before the makeover

by saying that having your hair cut short does not indicate feminine beauty only holds true in this females are only females if they have long flowing gorgeous locks. Women, as a short haired female myself, you are not your hair... even if you try it and it doesn't look good be confident in the fact that it will grow back.

Get a life, explore something new about yourself, watch the comments flow about how pretty your eyes are. Be confident in your bodies. If someone else doesn't like your new do, tell them to stuff it. They don't control who you are.

I agree - a pixie is an unfeminine look that few women can pull off. My suggestion is leave hair long enough to put up when desired. The allows for way more freedom of expression plus the added ability to get a vast variety of 'looks'.

Although my haircut is not a pixie, I recently cut it VERY short. In the past, however, I have worn a pixie. Both my current style and the pixie are two of the most flattering hairstyles I have ever had. As a person who likes to change things up with my hair more frequently than most people, my family, friends and coworkers have all seen me in a wide variety of lengths, styles and colors. I have received A LOT of compliments on my new style from both females and males. A few have even said that it 's "the best one yet". Short hair does not have to make you look masculine. Show off your eyes and lips. Dress femine and wear jewelry. Trust me, you will still look and feel very feminine and sexy!!

I suggest doing whatever makes YOU feel good.... why even bother about what judgmental strangers think?!?!????? And why would anyone even WANT to appear attractive to someone like that?!? Sheesh.

I've had very long (past my waist) and very short hair throughout the years. Everyone tells me that I look "much better " with my hair short, and also much younger. People think I'm 10-15 years younger than my real age. Most women do look older with long hair and it's a real pain in the neck to comb and shampoo. The only people who like long hair (on women) are old men! If you are planning on cutting your hair short , get a picture and show the stylist how you want it. and it always grows back so Go For It!

I agree that very short hair on a woman is not always the most flattering. You really need the right face shape to pull it off. Not to mention the correct body shape, there is nothing worse than some one looking like they have a little pin head sitting upon their neck. I myself will keep my long locks and pin it up when I want a shorter style. Everyone has a right to there own opinion. I see that there has been a few nerves struck here! To each his [or her] own.

I think what makes a person beautiful is their attitude. If you can wear a haircut, long or short, with confidence then you will be beautiful. I have seen lots of women with long hair who should NOT wear their hair long. It just hangs stringy and straight and it hides their eyes. That is not flattering either. For practical reasons, I would really like to have a pixie short hairstyle but I don't think it would look good on my face shape (full and round), so I have opted for a style that is slightly shorter in the back and longer in the front with the front being chin-length or longer.

I am a hairstylist, I love hair, period. I have fine hair, had opted to color my long beautiful platinum hair a lovely shade of brunette a year ago, got tired of touching up white roots for a year, highlighted it twice into the blonde shades and decided best way to get rid of color was to cut it all off. It is 2 inches on top and 1 inch lower part of head, it is platinum once again and I am eating vitamins for it to grow long again. Ha. I have the face and small body frame to pull it off and have tons of compliments, but I prefer my lovely longer hair and this will be the last time I cut all my hair off. I do not feel as sexy or as pretty with it short. Everyone loves it, but I do not, so it is about what I feel comfortable with. Currently wearing darling, glitzy ball caps on days I do not care to fix it. Not that there is much fixing I can do at this point. Ha. I was blessed with a face that can pull any hair style off so that is a good thing. I still love long hair that is shiney and healthy on women.

Why is it only the women have the freedome to choose their hair length? If women can wer it short and expect to be respected for their choice, why cannot men wear it longer and with more style and be respected for theirs? Before objecting, ask whether you laugh when you see men try.

LOL on YOU, Cassie !!!!

I Agree with You Alexandra, Halle Looked Much Better before the Make-Over !!!

Depending on the shape of your face and if you have a small face, will tell you if can pull off the look. Long hair tied back can make some women look harsh, so short hair can be shaped and teased into place to soften the look. I have had long hair but all my friends say i suit it shorter. It's quite flexible to be able to change your parting or mess it up a bit. I know what my husband prefers! You're telling me that Sharon Stone or Halle Berry don't look sexy AND feminine? Give your head a shake!
