Jersey Shore Beauty Fails
In case you've been busy writhing on the floor post-punch at Headliners, Jersey Shore is the number one pop culture phenomenon of the decade. True, the decade is only two weeks old but Jersey Shore is even catching on in Hollywood. Stars are partaking in their own guido/guidette worthy makeovers. Recently Jersified: Alyssa Milano and Michael Cera. MTV.com writer Lisa Chudnofsky got her own pouf courtesy of Snooki herself.
This fist-pumping and nickname generating MTV opus has peppered more conversations of mine lately than has the healthcare debate. Want to arm yourself with the all the info you need for the watercooler convos on Fridays? Pour yourself a tall glass of Ron-Ron Juice and let's break down the beauty fails of Jersey Shore.
First, we have a typical day on the beach with the gals.

- The Acrylic French Mani I just can't "vibe" the acrylic faux nail situations. And the French manicure adds insult to injury. I'd like to see Snooki follow Sammi's lead and stick to natural nails with a pretty pink polish.
- Loads of Liner Yes, it's the summer and yes, you're wearing your Ed Hardy best. But Snooki, you're on the beach, doll. Summer makeup is all about taking it down a notch.
- Obviously Penciled-On Brows Overplucking can lead to permanent sparse brows. JWoww would do well to better match her eye pencil to her brow shade and use tiny hairlike strokes to simulate real brows.
- Scraggly Ends Sartorially, Sammi needs some advice, but she's doing okay in the beauty department--with the exception of her flat-ironed to death ends, which are dying for a trim. Just an inch or two would increase volume and movement, giving the impression of healthier hair.
For evening, the gals really go all out.

- Highlights JWoWW can certainly lighten up her strands with a highlight. But her dark base lends itself better to a bold caramel or perhaps honey. Platinum streaks are too much of a contrast.
- Nude Lip It should be a rule that your lipstick should never be lighter than the shade of your actual lips. A darker hue would look more natural on Snooki.
- Pouf The pouf has actually grown on me; perhaps it's because Snooki rocks hers with aplomb. But for the average beauty bear? Beauty fail. Leave ratted up 'dos in the '60s, where they belong.
- Tanning Salon Tans The Situation educated America recently about the virtues of a GTL (gym, tan, laundry--of course) night. Snooki recently told Jay Leno she thinks everyone should have a tanning bed in their homes. All this, despite the statistic that you're 75% more likely to get skin cancer if you use start using tanning beds before age 30.

you're being way too harsh on these girls.. nitpicking every flaw.. honestly, lighten up a bit, maybe they could use a bit of help to freshen up their looks, but do you have to be so bitchy about it?

They all definitely need a makeover. Hands down. They look trashy and baked. Cool girls, but they definitely need to tone down on the makeup and tanning and dress a little classier.

Young women need stop dressing so trashy and behaving so vulgar. Is it a crime nowadays to be chic and classy?
You don't need to be wealthy to be classy either. Just look at Paris Hilton....
I remember a Dice Clay routine talking about females like this..."I want a man to treat me like the pig that I am." How uttlerly sad that that is exactly what they'll get.

They do need to go a bit more..... no-so-fake-looking................. I can see they are beautiful girls, all of the makeup they wear is just making them look trashy and old. They are all very young girls, they don't need all of this makeup and tanning, NOBODY DOES! When I saw these girls looking normal, and less makeup, I believe in People or something, they looked beautiful! They also need some clothes once in awhile............. All I'm saying is they just need to be more classy looking rather than stripper looking.

First of all I wish to correct everyone. These girls are not from New Jersey. They are New Yorkers by birth. They just visit the Jersey Shore in the summer. I'm a real Jersey Shore Girl born and bred and I don't look like these girls nor do I try to. What we call New Yorker's or even those from North Jersey that visit the Jersey Shore in the summer are Bennies. These people are all bennies and they are a pain in real Jersey Shore people's butt.

It's true the makeup is too heavy and could be a lot more flattering, the clothes need improvement and so on. Who doesn't need a makeover? Even the best dressed get into ruts.
These girls are young, they are pretty and they are having fun. What they are projecting is what they have grown up being taught is desirable. The movies, tv, music, magazines, society and whatever else has sent these women the message that trashy is desirable and successful, that it is the benchmark so to speak, and what men want. They didn't grow up exposed to beautiful, classy, successful, women "rocking" Chanel suits.
Let them have their fun and five minutes of fame. Maybe we will see them in five years wearing more flattering and appropriate makeup and clothing, looking beautiful and still having fun.
I do wish that as women, we were more accepting of one another and less "catty" and judgmental. I also wish our society defined beauty differently and the classy, well dressed, smart woman was esteemed. I wish we all could agree that the girls' look is okay and acceptable at home or in private, but that women deemed beautiful and desirable by the media are those who dress in a manner that shows they value their bodies and sexuality. However, this is what we choose to look at, watch and read about and as long as we are paying attention to it this is what we are going to get.

Trashy looks and sex sells. If my daughter dressed and acted like they do she would be looking for another place to live. It seems they are so proud to be so ignorant

trashy and baked is right.. im in high school and i would say rather pretty and put together, i know how to style it up or down but really? they look like they just stepped out of a makeover gone wrong..everything is too extreme... i dont see why these girls are famous when they are so fake.. rather than natural beauty. simething real. people see these girls everywhere and they are roll models but THEY SHOULDNT BE. its teaching the upcomming generations that that is ok when in fact it is not. TRASHY TACKY SLUTTY

I totally agree they look pole ready......hopefully young girls will see them as acting and not being real.
if they r trying to go a sexy look........they FAILED tremendously!
all they have accomplished is....stripper stock....its sad to realize that some teens may actually follow in these gals footsteps......bcuz, they wont have the protection these actresses have.

Taking personal offense just because we're from Jersy is cool...
But why get so offended because people could say worse like...
"Those girls are nasty b*tch sluts and they deserve to be in the trash nad set on fire."
That would even offend me...
I think it is more fun to just watch what people have to say, and wonder what they're really like and just know acting like that won't get you far and the classier people who aren't s*it talking just to s*it talk have real values and morals and will go farther in life.
I'm 16 and on my high schools anti-bullying commitee, so I see lots of senarios and such like this. :(
And I like Jersey. Cool state. :D

Hey whoawhoawhoa. chill. These people are just having fun in Jersey, and on tv they werent annoying the people! yes they can be mean at times, but arent we all occasionally mean? they arent trying to offend anyone in jersey.

If they were normal everyday people they wouldn't be on TV. Regardless of what state they claim they have to be annoying, bad dressers, horrid and over the top to get ratings.

Ugh, that is bad. Even my awkward experimentations with bright blue eye shadow and shade-to-dark foundation weren't that bad. BUT... could we talk about the clothes for a minute? Are they actually going for the ten dollar hooker look, or is that just what they think is stylish? Oy.
