The Easiest Morning Sunscreen Routine

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 45 Ultra-Light Fluid for Face .jpg

Scary fact: One person dies of melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) nearly every hour, according to the American Cancer Society. Daily sun protection is as important as all the other basics to good health such as eating well, not smoking, and regular exercise.

Putting on sunscreen every morning doesn't have to be an extra step. All I do is mix a generous squirt of SPF 30 sunscreen with a dime size drop of my favorite tinted moisturizer or foundation, then slather it all over my face and down my neck. I actually love this routine because it makes my foundation look very sheer and natural and the sunscreen looks less shiny on my skin--it's the best of both worlds.

My favorite sunscreen is La Roche-Posay Anthelios 45 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid. It's water-resistant, broad-spectrum and feels extremely light on the skin.

I am sure you know that you must reaply sunscreen every two hours for it to be effective. You are not giving the whole picture. I know this is an advertisement for this product but any sunscreen must be reapplied every two hours period!

Thanks Rachel, appreciate the sunscreen tip and yes, Anthelios 45 is an excellent product. It's not thick, but instead "thin" and "clean" feeling on the skin.

For sunscreen, I also like MAC'S PREP AND PRIME PRODUCT: FACE PROTECT PROTECTION VISAGE SPF 50/FPS 50.

I live along the water in California and often ride my bike and roller blade outdoors. To keep my face protected, I apply Mac's Prep and Primer to my face and neck. With an SPF of 50, it really does a great job of protecting my face in the sun and the built-in moisturizer is a blessing as well.

The biggest secret I learned from the MAC artists is to layer moisturizers. This process seems to be really working for me. First, I apply Mac's MOISTURE FIX LOTION. Next, the FACE PROTECT PROTECTION VISAGE. Then, after applying makeup, I spray on Mac's FIX + to set and hold my makeup in place.

This may sound like a big process, but it actually takes about one minute and a half.

It's sounds expensive to buy three skin prep products, but when it works, it's worth it.
And when the right amount of product is used, they can last for 3 months.

Mac's FIX + is a secret weapon and one of my favorite products of all time. It makes your skin look clean, fresh and dewy. Next time your in a MAC store, try it to see if it works for you. Many of my friends admired my "dewy" complexion and they are all now using FIX + and layering their moisturizers as well.

Best of all, Mac products are affordable. And their artists can be very helpful teachers.

I walk in Mac stores with my makeup bag and brushes and they help me build on what I have already for new and improved looks. Don't be shy... ask for help from the experts.
