I have a much needed hair appointment on Friday. It is much needed for two reasons: 1.) My hair color has faded to a mousy unattractive brown. 2.) The hair cut I received two months ago has grown out and now looks like a mushroom.
Not. Cute.
Now I'm debating on what to do with my hair this time around. Right now my hair is about shoulder length and pretty much all one length. Booooring! My last drastic cut was back in July when I lopped off four inches. Before that it was last Christmas when I decided to give myself straight across bangs. I recently decided to grow out my bangs but now I'm regretting the decision. I happen to think that they looked sassy and smokin' on me!
This is a picture of me and my good friend Maryn (L) in LA outside of the Chateau Marmont at the height of my bangs' feirceness.
This is a picture of my bangs a few months later when I decided toget them trimmed. My stylist gave me a quasi-mullet. It was shortly after this that I stopped seeing her and decided to grow the bangs out.
I get mixed messages with the bangs. A lot of my friends tell me not to do it and when I ask them why they reference the time when they looked like a mullet in the picture above. They seem to forget how awesome they looked when I first had them cut!
Personally I loved my look when I had the straight across bangs. They weren't diffucult to manage at all and were surprisingly versatile. It will be a game time decision on Friday but I'm pretty sure I'm leaning towards a full on set of bangs.
It's either bangs or go full on blond. I've always wanted to try. Thoughts???
have you considered a longer bang, maybe to the side? I love the pic, by the way, you are absolutely gorgeous, although in the first picture I missed the prune. hehe
its cute.
Blonde hair is very hard to maintain if made very light. I see you have a medium to dark hair shade, if that is your nautral color, bleach may take a toll on your seemingly nice healthy shiny locks. You never truly recover after bleaching, I should know.I was born blonde and remain a dark or "dirty" blonde, so I have tried from black to white hair and even though I am already a dark blonde with white wisps, even going pale for me is harsh! I would love a natural dark hair color, so I advise a few hi-lites but a platinum will not do you justice as I like your hair as chocolate with a few hi-lo lites. You said mullet (?) )-in that second photo, but I think your look is pretty in that photo and not a mullet.
Plus everyone is blonde, the exotic brunette ladies ruining their healthy dark locks to look like Barbie/every gal in LA is odd to me. I have little choice and remain in the reddish blonde family, though I loved when I had my hair a rich brown but my light roots would always ruin the effect.
Remember your eye/skin coloring, will pale blonde enhance or wash you out? Platinum washed me out as I am pale with some freckles and greenish eyes. I am still searching for a good look.
I say go for the bangs- I am working up the nerve to go for that bold look myself, as I need a real update! I think dark hair and bangs is hot, but blonde with bangs is less dramatic, in my opinion.
Thanks everyone for your feedback.
I ended up getting a light bang but I'm not that crazy about it. She kept fringe on the side of my head. Not. Cute.
Thankfully it's grown out a bit and I'm able to blow the bangs to the side. I like the look now! Next time I want a hair makeover I'm definitely blogging about it! You guys give good advice!
i cannot get over the bang ferocia that is the first photo! so hot!
I just gave myself bangs. At my age they are a blessing as they pretty much cover the forehead and those nasty age lines--even some around the eyes. My husband likes the look and so do I. Now I have to work on the color. Soon I'll let you see how I'm doing to get your feedback. I thought your comments were very helpful and yes, about that first photo, you do look very lovely with your bangs and your dark hair.

hey!!!
Well...for the past couple of weeks I've been debating whether or not to get my hair cut. and whether or not to get bangs...I think I will !!! (I love your first picture and how they looked on you, i've got an oval shaped face, so hopefully they will work out good for me too.)
I just made an appointment for the local salon. When i was about one or two, i was a really really light blonde, but as i gotten older it's a brown with natural reddish caramel highlights/lowlights. i'm lucky there and i love it.
Anyways, I'm 17-1/2 and a senior in highschool, and EVERYONE; and I mean everyone has the whole long hair and long "bangs" past their chins trend and I'm so so tired of going along with it. I'm so going to do the bangs and shorter hair thing and see how it works out!
Anyways, i'm glad you worked the hair and everything. any tips on what to do with the bangs? if you do, can you reply back to me please???
NO BLONDE!!!!!!! IT'S A DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have always been a brunette. My husband always talks about me going dirty blonde. I am 52 years old and young for my age. What do you think? I have shoulder-length hair with long bangs. Please help with your input. I also have med. dark skin.
Your hair looks better in the second picture. The first one with your hair curly mmm.... not so good... I suggest you find a salon which does KERATIN TREATMENT, which would serve your hair by making it frizz free for 3-5 month and healthy shiny without the mullet.
zazi, your not even looking at the right person in the first picture. She is on the right side, not the left! And I love your hair in both of the pictures, but more in the first one!
I think you would look good in dirty blond hair. That is my natural color, but it was lighter or had lighter streaks in it more when I was a kid. I used to bleach it platinum alot too, and thought it looked better on me. Some guys would say I looked younger with that color hair and some said it can make you look old before your time if go to white. I dyed it med brown and dark brown too and some people were baffled why I would do that, and quite a few said they liked it better on me with my skin tone and looks more natural on me. I think if someone has more of a tan skin tone they can get away with the platinum or the darker brown hair cause if skin is too light kinda like me, it will only wash you out. Hope this helps, go for it, blonds have more fun!!
I think you look nice with dark hair and bangs. I wear bangs like yours, in your first pic. But this one guys said before that it made me look older cause he said most of the younger girls wear them brushed to the side. So I grew them out for awhile but decided to get them again. I thought it made my face look wider not to have them, maybe also cause heavier set now too and the bangs also help balance out my face shape, the heart, a wide forehead and small narrow pointy chin.. I think the long side swept ones look nice, but I don't think they would stay on me unless I hairspray them. My hair is so baby fine and flyaway and I can't stand my hair going in my eyes. I think you would look nice with blonde highlights or if you want to make your hair blonde. Your skin looks dark enough to do it. Cause if you were too light going platinum would wash you out. But you don't have to go that light. You could do a med honey blonde or whatever, it's up to you. My hair is natrually dark blonde and I like to make it all really light sometimes or just do highlights. I like the real thick chunky highlights. I even dyed it dark before but it doesn't really look right on me. My skin is too light and my eyebrows, then I have to pencil them in to make them look darker. You should think about growing your hair longer or getting a step cut or a shag and flipping the ends out ever so slightly. I think that looks fun and flirty. Hope this helps. If you decide to go platinum, use maxi blonde by clairlol, it works, that's what I used and I would leave it on for the full 90 mins! If it's too bright you can tone it down with one of the clariol natural instints blondes, like light blonde or med or dark blonde. I think you should just start with the blonde or Carmel highlights and see how you like that first.
If you want my opinion I went to school for hairdressing - didn't finish because of personal reasons but I'm going back at the end of the summer - My natural hair color is brown and I always wanted to try to be a blond. Just like every blond wants to experience what it would be like as a brunettes. I saw in the pictures that you have dark eye brows cuz thats your natural color. I find that people with dark brown natural hair don't look their greatest with bleached blood hair. It look very unnatural. So I would suggest you do what I've done: and that is I got some highlights of light bloon and caramel all over my hair and everytime I go back to the salon I go a little light with light brown as the base. Not only does it look more natural but its also a lot better for the condition of your hair. Also I use a hair treatment everytime I wash my hair, it keeps it from looking frizzy and burnt from the bleach.
So this is my advice you should try it.. It looks great...
And remember BRUNETTES have alot of fun too. Brunettes tend to be more sophisticated and not so direct, people stop and wonder what your really like rather then read you like the back of their hand. Guys just love the mystery and the unknown...

I think tou should cut your bangs again it brings character to your face and they look good on you, but I wouldn't do the blond if I were you. Brunettes have more fun!!!
