A couple of months ago I was flipping through one of my many fashion/beauty bibles (My Big Three: Vogue, Allure, InSytle) I happened across an article about L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray. Not being a big user of hairspray since 1998 when The Wave went out of style, I perused the article without much interest, until I read that Elnett just started being available in the U.S.
I perked right up. Clearly this was a special product. Afterall, it had been available abroad for all this time and was now just making its way to the states. I made a mental note to look for it during one of my mass-market sojourns.
A few weeks later, between searching for Fiber One Bars and leggins at Target I found the infamous Elnett.

I picked up the sleek gold aluminum bottle and stared at it in wonderment. Then I caught sight of the price: $14.99.
"FOR HAIRSPRAY!?" I said aloud. Then I reasoned that it has UV Filters and is safe for my color-treated hairs. Also, as someone who is "in the industry" I have a responsibility to be in the know.
Since I was going out that night, I had the perfect opportunity to test out the abilities of this product. I have to admit, it doesn't smell all that amazing, pretty generic in fact. But it totally lives up to all the hype. I recently trimmed my bangs and they are on the short side. Normally when I try and style them to the side with hairspray they just stick straight out. With L'OREAL Elnett, my bangs stay in place and the pieces don't feel like toothpicks.
It really does leave your hair with a satin finish. You can actually spray your hair and still run your fingers through it.
I am totally obsessed with L'OREAL Elnett hairspray, but with the high price point I find myself using sparingly.
I have never used hairspray, believe it or not, but I will try it now because the reason why I never did use it is because I've always had this image of tooth-pick hairs sticking out, and not being able to run my fingers through my hair, and I'm a hair-toucher.
Let me know how you like it! Although if I know you I'm sure you'll love it!!

Good information regarding the L'Oreal Elnet hair spray. I will try it.
Let me know how you like it Barbara!
I have heard A LOT about this hairspray all of it good. So I really want to try it but have been looking and havnt seen it anywhere.
I live in Canada though, do you know if it's available here?
If so do you know any places to buy it besides Target?
Thanks so much
Hi Some Body,
I've actually only seen it at Target! There is a huge CVS near where I live and they don't have it either.
Let me know if you find it near you in Canada!!
Good Luck,
Lisa
Now exclusively available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada - $14.99.
Walgreens has it for $14.99. Small size for $6.99 probably try the small size before spending the $14.99
I am a performer and was doing a concert this past Saturday when I realized that I forgot my favorite hairspray! I was in a panic!
Well, I am kinda glad I forgot it because my cast mate had Elnett and let me borrow hers!
Can you be in love with a hairspray? Cause I AM!
First of all, the scent is very light. Almost powdery..not overpowering at ALL which is nice for a singer to not be breathing in excessive perfume.
Secondly, the hold was beautiful. I have fine, hard to hold hair and have to constantly touch up my hair during a show. Not with Elnett! I just had to run my fingers through and fluff it a little but the curls stayed in place.
I usually shower right after a show to get the sticky hairspray out..but I didn't even have to Elnett. The next day, my hair still felt really clean, smelled good and was still curly!!! I showered but didn't wash my hair cause we were in a rush. Again, I did still did not have that sticky, dirty feel or smell that you have after using so many other hair sprays.
Today is Monday and honestly, my hair STILL looks good! LOL! It's not greasy!
But I am going to wash it AND go to Target and get a can of this stuff! I normally spend between $15 and $20 on a hairspray.
Ladies, keep in mind..NORMALLY you have to use a LOT more of the cheap stuff to make it work and it runs out faster also because you have to do more touch ups. I find spending a little more on a GOOD hairspray evens out because you use a lot less of the product and it lasts longer.
I
I have been using either tresseme extra hold spray or john freida humidity extra hold spray. they don't always hold my hair. if it is especially dry and cold out my hair just goes soft and fine and has no style left in it. if i go out in the wind the same thing happens. i am hoping that Elnett will be my miracle spray. i will spend the money for it because it it is really good it will be well worth it. thanks for all the info.

I was just going to email you today about this.. but since you wrote a blog, I'll leave a comment!
I came home last nite and my Mom motions to the counter, do you know what that is? I immediately saw the can shown above and said, omg, you bought that? She said yes, and guess how much it was? I knew obviously because you told me...
She thought the bottom of the bottle said 4.99 not 14.99 and was horrified when she got home and realized how much she paid for hairspray!!!
I told her you said it was an amazing hairspray and that it was in InStyle as a favorite. So she figured she might as well keep it and try it out. I'll let you know what we think!
