3 Classic Hairstyles Get A Modern Makeover
Classic hairstyles like the bob, the updo and the half-up hairstyle never go out of style, but this season they've taken on a trendier look. "It's all about taking classic shapes and giving them a modern twist with a different texture or length," says celebrity stylist Hallie Bowman, whose clients include Megan Fox, Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher. Here, she explains how to give an old style a new vibe.

The Sexy "Lob"
The long bob was popular cut for spring, and it's still going strong. "It has that same shape as a classic bob, but it's longer in the front and shorter in the back which gives it a bit of a swing at the shoulders." says Bowman. To style, wrap sections of dry hair around a large barrel curling iron. As you release each section, twist it like a rope and hold it in place until it cools to lock in the curl. Next, use a paddle brush to smooth out the curls. "The whole idea is to make it look polished and to relax the curls into big waves," says Bowman. Complete the look by creating a deep side part and applying a dollop of Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Smoothing Crème to define the waves and fight frizz.

Half-Up Chic
A half-up hairstyle looks both casual and chic all at once. To keep it interesting, Bowman suggests creating lots of volume at the crown area. Blow dry your hair dry, focusing on volumizing the crown area. Make two deep side parts, one on each side of the head, then take the hair on the sides of your head and slick it back, pulling it into a small ponytail at the crown of your head. Take the top section of hair and spray it with Pantene Pro-V Texture Spray Wax to help build volume. Pull the hair loosely back, pushing it forward a bit to create an exaggerated volume, then pin it in place at the back of the head so that the ponytail is hidden beneath it.

Mixed Texture Updo
Forget boring buns, the look for fall is all about mixing contrasting textures to create an interesting, fresh updo. "You want the front to be airy while the back should be sleek," says Bowman. First, blow dry hair smooth, then pull it into a low ponytail at ear-level, leaving some pieces loose around your face. Spray the ponytail with Pantene Pro-V Texture Spray Wax, then roll it up and wrap it around the base of the ponytail, fanning the hair out as you wrap it. Pin in place, then take a medium-barrel curling iron and curl the loose front pieces to create textured tendrils.
Hi, I honestly like the half up "do" because to me it slims my face a little more when I do that style with a pompador-ish poof in the front on myself. Plus it's just a simple way to make a easy "do" and fancy "do"..haha.

i like the Sexy "Lob" hairstyle.. we should flaunt our hair..especially when you have a smooth and shiny hair waiting for someone to notice it... you feel sexy and you don't need to fix every time.. especially you don't wanna waste money going to salon just to fix it.. all you have to do is to use the right kind of hair shampoo, conditioner etc.

THE SEXY "LOB" - This is the style I like most ! I have 3 sons 25, 22 and 18 mo., YES, 18 MONTHS ! At 43 years old I have always wore my hair long AND I LOVE IT LONG, however, with a young man running around again I don't have as much time to do things I like and enjoy for myself ! The SEXY "LOB" still lets me keep some of the length I've always loved but with an easier upkeep than I have had with my "past the middle of my back" length ! This is my new style !

I like the mixed texture updo. It looks elegant but yet not to pretentious. You can be Casual or Classy and it doen't require a lot of time or fuss. I like the "mixed texture updo" because it takes the qualities already found in my hair and enhances them. My hair is very curly in some areas and a bit straighter in others, so by using Pantene's Pro V texture spray wax, I can have the put together updo, but still have some of my personality (and wild hair) show through.

I like the sexy lob because my hair is naturally very straight, and there's almost no way I can get waves or curls without using harsh chemicals. Even with a perm, my hair still isn't chic, it ends up with those '80s frizzy curls, or it doesn't work at all. This style works in my hair more than any other because it uses its own volume to keep the waves in place.

First:... I loved the Lob, a major DO, I have shorter hair so it works better and it explained, which I never could do, how to make a good curl. Second:... the Updo is nice for casual and/or formal, however my hair is to short so it's not for me. Third:... the Half-updo is for-sure a DON'T in my book, one I have and always will hate the bang poof, but this just reminds me of a mullet, so so not for me.

I am loving the lob and the mixted texture...for someone with curly hair, both styles are perfect for shape and style, however as a former "bob" fan, I personally like the longer version for a more modern approach. My daughter has been doing the mixed texture thing for awhile now with her hair, which is perfectly straight. She likes the Pantene mouse and styling gel because she is able to scrunch while drying and get a little bit of a wave which manages to hold for most of the day and doesn't feel dry from the products.

I find the mixed-texture up do the most flattering. I really like the textured up-do. You can dress it up or down with cute hair accessories, making it a cool look with some hippy clothes and leather or wood accessories, or some funky hairsticks, etc. Or you could go classic with it and have no accessories, or just simple hair jewelry. It's a very versatile hairdo that can change with just a simple difference in the messiness of the front, or the tightness of the back, or the addition of cool hair accessories.

I like the mixed texture updo! I have really long hair and it's a hassle to fix it most mornings so I throw it in a regular bun. But the mixed texture updo isn't too complicated and
now I can make the regular bun look way better without much more work :)

I like the sexy "lob" best. I think it is the most versatile style. If you get a really good cut, it can take you through the work day, into the evening and with the right accessories, you can even make it look formal. It's great for fun, work, dressy or play. It's very youthful looking, too.

I like the mixed texture updo because it looks so relaxed and its not too much. It fits to many outfits and is easy to do. When I wake up in the morning and have to go to school or somewhere else I can easily make a gorgeus hairstyle. But I think it looks only this nice and relaxed and special when you have the haircolor in the picture or another blonde.But in brown or black its a very different look.

I really like all 3... however I'm in love with the Sexy Lob. It has a romantic feel to it. My hair is long and when not straightenend, is naturally curly. So I think I'll try to attempt the mixed texture updo with my curly hair. As for the half up chic, I do wear my hair as such however, I have a very high forehead and can't pull off the height without bangs. Thank you fro all of these updates. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, all three hairstyles look amazing, but if I were to chose one that I prefer the most, it would be the half-up chic style. The Lob is great especially when using Pantene smoothing creme but then the half up works really well after using the vitality shampoo, but then again the mixed updo is really sexy after using the vitality conditioner so I guess I love them ALL!

I'll try the 'lob'. I'm planning on going on a Medical Mission some time this winter. (I'm a nurse.) Last year I went to a hospital in the West Indies. I had my hair cut and styled just before I went. It was s short bob, and looked terrific, until I hit the humidity in St. Lucia. Then it was a constant battle with frizz. I think the longer bob would allow me extra options. Up to cool off my neck while working, and maybe with a good anti-frizz shampoo, I can wear it down too.
Having gone once, now I have a better idea of what to pack and how to better prepare before hand.
I'm looking forward to the trip back, I made some good friends with the nurses, taught them something - and learned quite a bit as well.

The Half-Up Chic gets my vote! It's great because it looks casual enough to wear with jeans, but also classy enough to wear for evening. I like the extra volumizing in the crown area because I have fine hair and it makes me look like I have more hair. It's easy to put this style together and terrifc for medium length hair which is what I currently have. Very sexy!

AS man who serves the public sector i see allot women with different Hairstyles, I have to say there's NOTHING More attractive then the "lob" to a guy atleast, a women showing off her Healthy hair and it compliments a Hot Red Dress or Black as opposed to sssssstringy mess, or half up chic, worse yet not to mentioned the "Bump It " look, dates a women and her age, makes all women look like a librarian

I like the half up Chic style because I wear my hair like this but it's usually flat on top and I have a fuller face so I think by making the top more fuller will even things out. I like the half updo and wear it quite often as a day look to work. It looks polished and professional. It helps give my hair some volume by wearing it half up all day. I have fine hair so when I'm going out after work I simply take out the hidden ponytail, brush my hair out, backcomb at the crown, pull out some bangs and give a spritz of hairspray, viola! instant evening look!

The half up-do is nice, but with my long face, I don't need the additional height. The mixed texture hairdo is nice, but my hair isn't long enough to make a ponytale to wrap around & fan out.

I loved the technique that was shared for the "lob" 'do'! I have tried curling my hair that way 100 times. Before I can even start on the other side of my head, the curls drop, everytime. It's so frustrating. I was planning on giving it another go tommorow, so I'll use the strategy for twisting the curl to let it set! Thanks soooo much!

Love the lob its soft sexy and still long enough to pull up off my face when I need my hair back. I couldnt pull of the half up chic I would always have a cowlick sticking up somewhere. Same with the mixed textured updo. If you dont get it just right you just look messy.

Hands-down it's the "Half-Up Chic". We always want what we don't have. Having straight/wavy/curly combination long hair, if it wasn't for Pantene, I would never be able to run a comb through my hair after showering or able to style my hair after blow-drying. I am envious of the straight and short hair worn in "Half-Up Chic", and would love to be able to spend less time fussing with my hair, be out the door sooner, and be able to do the short haired head hair fling as can be done with the style shown, and worn both casual and dressed up.

I love the Sexy Lob because it is a hairstyle that will suit may face shapes as well as the different textures of hair. i CHOOSE the updo, it is easy, wax not only help keep up but, looks fresh and arromatic all day long. Ready to go from work to evening with just some accesorries. I use the wax it is great and smells good too! Having short hair wax does the job. Love it.

Yes i only use pantene when i use the shampoo it makes my hair feel smooth and very clean. now the conditioner is great love it i use curls when i put in my hair it feels like hot creamy wax it is by far the best out there thats my take on it i will not use nothing else but that.I have very long hair and healthy because of i think pantene pro-v.

I personally like the "half-up" do. First because I am a working woman and this do goes great in the work place and can also go with any night time activity. Very important to me! Other reasons: keeps my hair from hiding my face and eyes. I like to look people staright in there eyes upon meeting someone and want them to see my eyes as well. Also it slims my face and makes my cheek bones more prominent! Love it!

I really like the half up chic style, it looks easy to do, esp. for someone like me who has problems getting my hair up and getting it to stay. I like the way you tell step by step how to do it, instead of just a ponytale in the back(like I do), leave hair at the front out, so you can pull it back and then pin, that way it looks much more stylish. It can be worn at night as a shek style or during the day at work. I hope I have the nerve to have that much length cut off my hair, but it really needs it now!

Other than having too much "soap/detergent" in the shampoo (I prefer products with less "suds"; maybe I am too old for all the bubbles :) I've been using Pantene products for many years. Originally born and raised in Germany, I was happy to find Pantene products on the shelfs of the stores I used to frequent and still do on the occasional vacation trip. Growing up in a coastal city (Bremerhaven) where the the humitity really stinks, no matter what time of year my son and I travelled abroad. Now, bedridden for approximately 2 hrs. I especially appreciate the fact that Pantene products are easily and fast to use. I am overall very happy with your product at it's price, because living off of less than $10K annually in disability pay and being a divorced, hence, single Mom can be quite challenging, especially when there isn't anyone else around to help.But enough about my "sad song". I am sure there are enough people out there who have it much worse...
In any case, both of my hands and all of my fingrers are swelling up terribly from typing as I am suffering from MS and Fibromyalgia as direct result(s) of those wretched accident(s). Have a wonderful day and enjoy your weekend...

I like both the lob and the half-updo but i'm not so sure about the mixed texture bun. It looks deconstructed and messy, which can look good at times if combined with the right face shape. But I don't think that look can be very versatile, it would only look good on certain face shapes like a square face-shape or a diamond face-shape. Pretty much anyone with a long face would look good in it. But the half-updo looks very casual yet stylish and to me, seems more managable. In reality, theres almost no time to style hair so that looks seems very magable because it looks like the only thing thats needed it a hair straightener.
The lob is my absolute favorite because it seems like a style for all ages and face shapes.

I definitely give kudos to "the sexy bob". After trying to let my hair grow out for about a year i decided to give my hair some color and change it from black to a chestnut brown. That didn't really work out since the dye only grabbed my roots and ends and left the middle of my hair... well black. I went to my sister for help and all she said was "just cut it off"! I almost died. But this do looks amazing, and from a hair enthusiast who never ever wants to waste a lock, i am seriously giving that hairdo consideration.
