Step 1: Start with dry, curled hair. Isolate a halo section of hair on top of your head.

Step 2: Take a two-inch section within the halo and hold straight up. Use a tight-toothed comb and backcomb in short strokes along the back of the section down toward your scalp. Repeat with all sections within the halo.

Step 3: Use a natural-bristle brush and smooth the hair on the surface of the halo as you direct it back. Use bobby pins to secure in back and mist with hairspray. Add a decorative accessory to finish.
