Step 1: Start with dry, slightly wavy hair and isolate a section in front.

Step 2: Take a two-inch piece within the isolated section and hold it straight up. Use a tight-tooth comb and backcomb in short strokes along the back of the section toward your scalp. Repeat with all sections on top.

Step 3: Smooth the hair on the surface of the section as you direct it back and to one side. Gather length in back and, starting at the ends, roll your hair up horizontally. Pin securely into place low at the back of your head.
