Step 1: Starting with smooth, dry hair, take a two-inch section on top and hold straight up. Use a tight-toothed comb and backcomb in short strokes along the back of the section down toward your scalp. Repeat with all sections on top of your head.

Step 2: Using a natural-bristle brush, smooth over the surface of the backcombed area while taking your length back. Twist and pin into place in back with the ends sprigging upward and out.

Step 3: Curl any dangling bits with a medium curling iron. Spritz all over with hairspray to lock in your style.
