Step 1: Start with dry hair with curly ends.

Step 2: Isolate a halo section of hair on top of your head. Take a one-inch section within the halo and hold straight up. Use a tight-toothed comb and backcomb in short strokes along the back of the section down toward your scalp. Repeat with all sections within the halo. Use a natural-bristle brush to smooth the hair on the surface of the halo as you direct it back.

Step 3: Sweep all of your length back and place into a ponytail in back, securing with a coated elastic band.
