Take a two-inch section of smooth hair on top and hold it straight up. With a tight-toothed comb, backcomb in short strokes along the back of the section down toward your scalp. Repeat with all sections on top of your head until maximum volume is reached.
Use a natural bristle brush and smooth a four-inch wide section of hair over the surface of the teased area. Pin the ends into place in back.
Starting in front on either side of your part, wrap a wide vertical section of hair around your head and pin into place in back.
