Katie Lee Joel keeps her hairstyle smooth on top and then adds very loose curls through her length.

Step 1: Apply a nickel-size amount of lightweight styling lotion onto damp hair. Blow-dry two-inch sections with a paddle brush.
Step 2: Spritz the lower part of a two-inch section with styling spray and wrap around a large curling iron. Hold section in place for a few seconds to set curl, release and repeat all over. Curl face-framing sections away from your face and alternate curl direction on the sides and in back.
Step 3: Run your fingers through your hair to break up the curls. Mist with shine spray for added luster and hairspray for hold.
