Fox News is reporting that Katie Holmes shelled out about $43,000 on her latest makeover. Everyone has been buzzing this past week about her new hair extensions (which look great), but according to Fox News, she also upgraded her smile with new veneers and indulged in numerous spa treatments.

OK–she looked fabulous before, and of course, looks fabulous after. But what do you think about spending so much money on looking fabulous?

Katie of Sparkle*Shelf has been having a blast in the Makeover Studio:
“While my hair is naturally brown, I love blond hair! I wanted to try something that was blond and sleek. After ‘trying on’ a number of styles I found cuts that framed my face and had some kind of part that fell near my eyes were the most flattering. The blue eye are contacts. I don’t know if I’d buy colored contacts since I don’t use them normally, but I might add eye makeup to bring out the natural blue in my eyes. Plus I love the subtle asymmetry at the ends.
“I chose the longer brown wavy look because I was interested in seeing what I’d look like if I actually let my hair grow out and let it curl more naturally. Plus the cut has a structure and style to it, that curly-haired girls often don’t get to take advantage of because it is hard to add any real style to a curly head. I love the soft waves and the longer side bangs and believe this is a look that I’d be able to pull off and really love.”
Her results show the variety of different looks that can be pulled off with a little experimentation.

Diane Desimone of Snapshot Fashion has been playing in the Makeover Studio, and check out her sexy new look! Here’s what she said about her experience:
“I absolutely love Daily Makeover! With this site I got to experience some hairstyles that I never would try in real life. Now I know what I would look like as a blonde…Lauren Conrad I am not. I don’t think they’ll be asking me to join the cast of The Hills anytime soon! But I did find some styles that I thought really suited my face shape and skin tone. I love one of the looks with bangs so much that I’m actually going to see my hairstylist today and request it…all thanks to Daily Makeover!”

Beauty blogger Peri Basel just turned 50 and wrung in a new decade with an amazing makeover–that she planned in the Makeover Studio! Not only did she cut off a few inches from her hair, but she also took a few years off of her overall appearance “I always felt that long hair kept me younger looking, until I saw photos of myself during the summer. I looked like I was stuck in the 80′s!” says Peri. The final moment of truth came when a hairdresser friend just blurted out “your hair is TERRIBLE and the color is AWFUL!” So, Peri spent a week playing around in the Makeover Studio and fell in love with a shorter style. So much, that she took her picture to the salon and got the cut. “I did it and still have it. it always looks great,” says Peri. “I’m married, he loves it and all of our guy friends love it and so do the girls. I feel much younger!”
And here’s the final result!
The real makeover!

I’m sort of obsessed with how sexy Carrie Underwood looked last night. She was her usual pretty southern bright-eyed self on the red carpet, but when she hit the stage to belt out “Last Name”….WHOOAH! She let her hair down, layered on the lashes, and poured on the gold anywhere she dared–cheeks, décolleté, legs. That was one sexy mid-event makeover!
What did you think?

Tara, 36, lightened up her hair–and her outlook on life! Here’s her inspiring makeover story.
Why did you give yourself a makeover?
It had to happen. I never really talked about having Cerebral Palsy because it had been my experience that people would not know what it was and despite my explanations, often misunderstood. Finally things came to a head when I had knee surgery and faced a long recuperation (not being able to walk). I realized that my hair was physically heavy like my being had been for so many years, this not talking freely about my disease. At first I wanted to take a pair of scissors and start chopping my hair even though I had waited years for it to grow out. But I cooled down and took the sensible approach and went with my walker into the salon and said “take it all off and play with the color.”
What was the reaction of your girlfriends?
Some stared shockingly in disbelief. Others stared and smiled as they realized the impact of the change. Some said I looked younger. Others said that they finally saw my face and not just a mass of curls.
Are you single or in a relationship? How do guys like your new look?
As for the men in my life, I’ve heard some “wows”. Currently, I am single. But now with my new look, I have a new outlook and chances are, being single won’t last for long.
Is it easy to style?
It’s versatile. I can wear it super curly, as I have been practicing the art of creating the perfect curl. All it takes is some patience and twirling my hair around my fingers in a certain manner. I can slick the sides or all of it back. If all else fails, I wear a funky colored fabric or plastic head band and just go.
Do you love it? Will you keep it?
I love my new look. Not only for its styling ease but its expression of freedom. I’m keeping and owning this style for now.

Thinking of going for a bob? Take a cue from Kat, 26, who cut off more than six inches! Here’s her makeover story:
Why did you give yourself this makeover?
I’m traveling to South America for four months and it’s summer there so I wanted something light, easy to style, and off of my neck. I also got the cut because I volunteered to be a model at a Bumble & Bumble razor bob class, so it was free.
Have you had long hair for a while?
Yes, it’s been about two years. I like long hair, but my hair is so fine and thin that I can’t let it go too long or it looks limp. Put it this way, Baywatch hair is not in the cards for me.
How do you like your new bob?
I love it. It’s light and bouncy. I blow dry it straight most of the time, but I can also let it dry naturally and it doesn’t curl up too much. My natural hair is wavy in some parts and straight in others, so I used to always have to do some styling to it when it was long. This shorter cut looks better when I let it go. What’s also amazing is that when I go out at night, it keeps its shape. It’s very low maintenance.
Is it easy to style?
It’s much easier to style because I have less hair so it takes less time to dry. It’s also easier to give it more volume because there’s not a lot of long hair weighing it down.
What’s the reaction for your friends?
My friends love it!
How have guys been reacting to it.?
I’m single, and some of my guy friends when they saw me were like, “Wow, really sexy! Love the new ‘do.” I work at a restaurant and always had my long hair pulled back into a ponytail. Now that it’s short, I wear it down, which everyone seems to really like.
Will you keep it?
I might go back and forth because I always get bored. I can’t do one thing for the rest of my life, but I won’t let it go too long because then it gets stringy again. That’s not good!

There’s another bob in Hollywood! This time, screen siren Mandy Moore has lopped off about five inches to go for a shoulder-skimming shaggy bob. The long layers create a sexy texture without making this short style look too fussy or busy. She also went dramatically darker with a rich chocolate-y hair color. I love it. I think she looks more polished and brings out her defined jawline. Click on her pic to try it on!

I also want to give kudos to her new makeup look, especially her eyes. See how the defined black liner makes her brown eyes look more intense? In
her before picture, Moore used brown shadow which blends in too much with her brown eyes, instead of making them pop. The contrast of the black liner really creates a wow factor. What do know which eyeshadow colors are best for you? Read this tip: How to make your eyes pop.
