Fall Makeup Trend: Inspired By Nature

While on a road trip through some of the country’s best national parks recently, I could not help but be inspired by the beautiful colors and scenery all around me. I am often inspired by nature when creating looks for photo shoots or new makeup shades for my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy line. This fall’s new color palette was represented all around me on my trip. Makeup ideas for lips and eyes flooded my mind when I traveled through the awe-inspiring Bryce Canyon in Utah.

YvesSaintLaurent.jpg

The reddish-orange earth of this beautiful canyon is actually the perfect fall lip shade that is hot for the coming season. Choose a modern, sheer gloss in this orangey color so it’s totally wearable and pair it with a basic face so the lips make the big statement.

The many shades of green I found in all the trees and sage bushes can play up eyes for fall no matter what color your iris is. Line the upper lash line with a deep, forest-green eye pencil or use a wet angle brush to apply shadow like a cake liner and then sweep a khaki green or sage eye shadow color across the lid from the lash line to the crease and under the lower lashes.

Then, apply a pale shimmering gold color like the sand I found in some of the dry riverbeds under the brows. A great compact for these colors is the lip color and blush for balance. So be inspired by these new ideas or gather your own inspiration and experiment with new colors this season.

Carmindy’s Fall Beauty Preview

This fall, some of the top trends of the moment we have seen before, and some are a new twist on an old favorite. Remember, ladies, that just because a trend is walking down the runway and photographed on models’ faces, this does not mean it is necessarily right for you, too. The key is to choose one or two trends that do work for your specific features and don’t take them literally, but rather use them as inspiration for a look that is wearable. I have picked my top five trends for fall that I see as wearable for any women when the right hue and formula is chosen for her.

Guerlain blush.jpg

First is the orange trend. Stay away from the orange opaque lipsticks we saw on the runways and opt for a sheer orange lipgloss instead. The transparency of the color will allow for a more modern and easy look. Try my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Forever Stay Lip Gloss in Creamsycle.

Red lips ruled the catwalk, too, and yes there is a right red for everyone. Ladies with fairer skin look best in cool reds like cherry, medium-skinned hotties can rock the true fire-engine reds and dark gals should go for blood-reds and garnets. A good true red is the Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in Rouge Cancan.

Purple eyes are spot-on this season, but don’t go Prince purple! Opt for a muted eggplant or rich plum. Go for washes of the shade on lids rather than the full-on painted eye – that can look way overdone. A good watercolor version is my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Instant Definition Eyeshadow Palette in Amethyst.

Full brows frame the eyes this season, so fill them in with a little bit of brow corrector like the Lorac Brow Pencil and keep the rest of the face neutral. Channel your inner Ali MacGraw: fill ‘em in and brush them up with brow gel, then use loads of black mascara only and a little terracotta blush. The perfect terracotta blush this season is the one by Guerlain called Terracotta Blush and Sun, so swirl it on the apples of the cheeks and pair it with stronger brows by day or one of the fab new lip colors by night.

How To Make Your Fake-N-Bake Last

This spring and summer we should all be fakin’ the bake and should use self tanner instead of the real sun for some sexy color. A subtle glow on the skin can make you look healthy and beautiful, but remember to go easy and don’t over do it with really dark tints. To make your self tanner last there are a few easy steps to ensure it stays put so you don’t need to reapply constantly.

First off, if you use a facial self tanner, skip applying creams that contain glycolic acid (fruit acids) of any kind or fading creams. These types of creams will cause the tan on your face to lighten and totally reverse your perfectly bronzed look. Instead, just use a good moisturizing cream and a sunscreen to keep the face looking soft, supple and summery but also protected. You would be amazed at how many women believe that a base tan, even a fake one, means you don’t need sunscreen. Wrong. When it comes to your body forget about scrubs while you rock the fake tan, as they will also scrub off your freshly applied tan along with the dead and dry skin.

The best way to keep your tan going is to apply body oil to the skin while you are still in the shower. This will really lock in the hydration and when you step out of the shower and towel off, your bronzed body will look moist and rich. Add another layer of moisturizer with shimmer to the body right after the shower to kick it up a notch and get the gleam that looks gorgeous at night.

Pink Is My Favorite (Lip) Color

This spring think pink and paint up your pout with every shade of pink you can find. You can use a different pink every day of the week to freshen up the face, and with all the different formulas out there you can find your perfect match.

MAC_Pro_Lipstain_Marker.jpg

Fair skinned ladies look great in blue-based pinks like bubblegum pink, candy pink and pale petal pink. Medium skin tones look lovely in truer hues like rose pink, coral pink and carnation pink. Darker skinned gals go bold and swipe on fuchsia pink, magenta pink or strawberry pink.

There are a few pinks that all women can wear and are universal to any skin tone. If it’s a long wearing stain you’re after try the MAC Pro Longwear Lipstain Marker in Full Of Flare. This is a great way to pink up your lips and keep the color lasting for hours even after a swim at the beach.

Lipstick_Queen_Saint_Lipstick.jpg

Gloss addicts can rejoice with my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Forever Stay Lip Gloss in Playful Pink. This formula and shade is my personal favorite for everyday use. Lipstick junkies can sweep on a sheer pink lipstick, which is much better in hotter months than opaque heavy pigmented versions. A perfect pink for all is Lipstick Queen’s Saint – Sheer Lipstick in Pink. So update your lips with this season’s hottest shade and have a blast!

The Best Face Bronzing Trick

This spring and summer, the best way to bronze is to think of creating a subtle healthy glow, not a deep savage tan. There is a fabulous trick to achieving this look in a natural sun-kissed way. First off choose the best bronzer for your specific skin type. If you have oily skin, go for a powder bronzers like Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Sun Glow Powder Bronzer. For normal skin, use an airbrush spray bronzers like Era Rayz Bronzer and for really dry skin choose cream bronzers like Too Faced Aqua Bunny Cream To Powder Splash Proof Bronzer.

Era_Rayz_Bronzer.jpg

When you apply the bronzer don’t sweep it all over the face but rather strategically place it on areas where you will look naturally contoured. Keep all bronze color away from the center of the face for a fresher look and apply the bronzer on the temples, along the sides of the face, and right under the cheekbones in a “C” formation. This way the tanned look will appear light and modern and will keep you looking younger. Too much bronzer on the center of the face can make you look older, so this technique is the perfect way to look sunny and youthful at the same time.

carmindy-sally-hansen-sun-glow-powder.jpg

In a bind, instead of bronzer, you can use foundation that is 2 shades darker then your normal foundation. Apply it to a non-latex sponge and sweep it in the “C” formation for a fast way to fake the bake when you don’t have a bronzer handy. For daytime, make sure you stay away from heavily shimmered bronzers and for the evening, you can switch it up to a more sparkly bronze that will play up the face. When using bronzer, play with coral cheeks and lips to bring a little pop of brightness to the skin and loads of black mascara for a perfect spring/summer look for this season.

Red Carpet Ready

Carmindy_Leukemia_Awareness_Gala.jpg

Every Spring DKMS, the world’s largest bone marrow donor center, throws New York’s most amazing gala along with its sponsor Coty at Cipriani’s uptown. This Linked Against Leukemia gala brings out the brightest stars and some of the best performances.

This year we were blessed with songs performed by Jon Bon Jovi and speeches by Halle Berry, but the most incredible part of the night was when a special bone marrow donor was united with two young boys whose lives the donor had saved. There was not a dry eye in the house and it helped raise awareness for all of us to get swabbed and become a part of the donor registry today so visit www.dkmsamericas.org and help save lives!

For me the cause is so important and it is also a lot of fun to be able to dress up like a princess at the ball. I wore an incredible bluish green Carmen Marc Valvo dress and paired it with my new favorite jewelry designer Trudelle Laker. Her jewelry is so incredibly divine that I had people swarming me for information on what jewelry I was wearing! A few actually took photos of the necklace alone. You can find her line at www.restatedjewelry.com, but be ready to go nuts because you will love everything.

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy Luminizing Face Primer 1.jpg

For my makeup I used my line Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy and began with my Luminizing Face Primer, which I applied not only on my face but my entire body as well. Then I blended on my Your Skin Makeup in Creamy Beige and followed with my Fast Fix Concealer in All Over Brightener under my eyes. A light dusting of Neutralizer Truly Translucent Loose Powder kept shine at bay.

Fast Fix Concealer All Over Brightener

Then came the highlights. I used the highlight shade of eye shadow from my Instant Definition Eye Shadow Palette in Mountain and swept it under the brows, on the inner corners of the eyes, and on top of the cheekbones. Next I swept the highlight shade from the Earth palette across the lid from the lash line to the crease. For a fun twist I lined the upper lash line with a sweep of my Forever Stay Eye Pencil in Blue Indigo and then added a second layer of the Jade shade for a two toned effect like the bluish green of my dress. I winged out the liner slightly and then applied ½ a set of false lashes at the outer corners of my eyes. I finished off the eyes with a sweep of the lid shade from the Quartz Palette across the crease and under the lower lash line, and then coated my lashes in my Lift and Define Mascara in Jet Black. On my cheeks I applied my Natural Powder Blush in Orchid and Color Comfort Lip Color in Champagne Rose on my lips.

The night was magical and I love dressing up and playing with makeup in a fun and creative way. Don’t wait for a gala to go glam; a simple night out with the girls is all you need for an excuse to dress up like a princess too.

High-Tech Makeup

With all the new futuristic technologies in film and television out there today–from HD to 3D–it’s no wonder even makeup companies have gotten in on the action. High-tech makeup seems to be all the rage and quite honestly can be just what you need to take your beauty to a higher level.

carmindy-airbrush-spray-makeup.jpg

Foundations, for example, have never been more realistic at mimicking the skin’s natural texture and tone, all the while covering up little imperfections without a trace of that old thick residue. My Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Airbrush Spray Makeup was created to give the complexion a sheer mist of fine coverage to look like it has been airbrushed or retouched but is pretty invisible to the naked eye. This allows the skin to look flawless without feeling heavy or caked up.

Make_Up_For_Ever_HD_Microfinish_Powder.jpg

Even powder has come a long way with products like Make Up For Ever’s HD High Definition Face Powder, which creates a soft focus effect and eliminates shine without dulling the skin with extra heavy pigment. The translucent invisible hue works on all skin tones and skin types, never dulling or aging the skin, unlike traditional powders can. Lips are going sci-fi with new products like Lorac’s Multiplex 3D Lip Gloss. This futuristic formula actually contains holographic pigments for a multi-dimensional shine that really makes your pout stand out.

Now basic how-to beauty information is moving forward at light speed with new apps for the iPhone. I could not find one I really liked so I decided to create a personalized Avatar-style beauty app customized just for you. Whatever your skin tone, hair color or special occasion you will be going to, my new Carmindy makeup app for the iPhone will allow you to carry a little of me in your pocket for whenever you are in doubt on what to wear, buy or try. It will be available in a few months. I’ll keep you posted!

Spring’s Best New Makeup

Oh bliss… sweet spring is here and with it comes all the blooms and buds of color. Use the bright colored flora and fauna around you now as inspiration to play up eyes and lips this season and watch your look come alive.

Tarte_Spring_Greening_Palette.jpg

Instead of trying to pick and choose through hoards of single products, try palettes that hold everything you need. I like the Bobbi Brown Color Strips with purple and quartz eyeshadows and soft pinks and light corals for the lips. I also love Tarte’s Spring Greening Reusable Straw Palette with fun bold shades like teal and purple for eyes and perfect petal colors for lips. Best of all, when you’re done with the straw bag you can use it as a clutch!

Color_Comfort_Lip_Color.jpg

The quickest way to play with trends is to throw on a new lip shade. You will definitely want to think pink this year! The ultimate pink color that is universal and works on all women is my Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Color Comfort Lip Color in Perfect Pink. For a bolder choice try the shade of Pink Blossom. The best spring natural lip gloss is the peachy pink hue from Bath And Body Works. It’s their Lip Gloss in P.S. I Love You Spring Fling. Who doesn’t want one of those? The best bold lip gloss this spring is MAC’s Liberty Of London Tinted Lip Glass in Perennial High Style, which is a bright and bold pink coral. So perk up with pink this season and enjoy that Spring Fling!

My Best Budget Beauty Tips

On my recent book tour for Crazy Busy Beautiful, the main topic that continued to arise from the fans, interviewers and television hosts was how to save money. My new book is full of fabulous ways to save money and some things can be found right in your kitchen. I shared my best penny-pinching beauty tips from Seattle to Toronto and everywhere in between. Here’s a sneak sneak peak of a few of my cheap tricks.

Carmindy on her Crazy Busy Beautiful book tour.png

First, regular white sugar is the best exfoliant around. You may have heard or read about my sugar beauty tip already, but it is still my favorite and one I use it daily. Just lather up your face and body in the shower and use a handful of sugar to scrub away any dead skin cells.

Another great tip is to customize your own body lotion. Simply purchase an inexpensive unscented body lotion (I like Eucerin), then add my Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Luminizing Face Primer and a few drops your own perfume or scented oil and you have a yummy smelling sparkling body lotion created just for you for almost nothing.

For those of us who have ever dropped our favorite expensive eye shadow or blush on the bathroom floor only to see is shatter, don’t worry. Simply buy a cheap plastic clear container and put the remaining broken powder inside and crush up a bit more. Now you have a loose powder and can continue using the product lengthening the life of it.

For a quick face firming mask, no need to spend tons of money on a fancy facial. Just open the fridge and crack open an egg. Apply the whites to the skin and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse off and apply your moisturizer as usual for a fresh complexion.

There are many more ways to save money, so pick up a copy of Crazy Busy Beautiful–at 12.99 you can’t beat the price.

Luster Busters

Glowelle

Spring is here my beautiful ladies and as we spring clean our homes, closets and makeup bags it is also time to spring clean our bad habits. There are a few bad habits that zap our glow and dull our skin ruining that fabulous luster we should be celebrating this time of year.

The biggest luster buster out there is the social smoking. Girls if you think having just one or two ciggies when you are out with the girls getting your drink on and it won’t have an effect on your skin, you are wrong. I know you don’t consider yourself a “real” smoker this way, but it will ruin your skin just the same. Consider it a complexion killer and don’t do it. Also stay away from people when they do, because it’s like sticking your face behind a bus…nasty! So the sooner you stop the sooner your skin will return to its glowy condition and order up my favorite complexion care giver Glowelle. It’s the anti-oxidant drink packet you sip every day to help jump-start your luminosity.

Another bad habit you must break is falling asleep with your makeup on. I don’t care how tired, sick or lazy you are, haul your pretty butt into the bathroom and cleanse and moisturize that face. Overnight, your skin needs time to rejuvenate and should be able to do that without being suffocated by the days old makeup and toxins picked up from the outdoors. So be nice to your face and pamper it nightly for radiant fresh looking skin in the morning. Choose a moisturizer that contains ingredients like antioxidants and natural botanicals to help skin replenish itself. I adore the entire Skinceuticals line.

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy Luminizing Face Primer 1.jpg

Besides smoking the other worst habit on the planet would be the dreaded disgusting tanning bed. If you want to guarantee you will look shriveled and old way before your time be my guest and shove your self into that hot cooker and press the fry button. It is so damaging to your skin I can’t even begin to tell you so instead grab a good self-tanner and bronze up in a healthy way. My new favorite is the one by L’Occitane called Castanha. It leaves no funky smell and looks great on the bod! If you want a super fast way to fake a radiant glow no matter how bad a girl you have been you can always smooth on my Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Luminizing Face Primer to the face and body. It is still best to live a beautifully healthy lifestyle to have that luster and ethereal light all the time.

The Nasties

I usually offer you lovely ladies up a bevy of tried and true tips and tricks on how to look positively beautiful and in my new book, Crazy Busy Beautiful, I continue to do just that. But what should you do when nasty things that are not so beautiful pop up unexpectedly? In my new book I also share secrets on how to hide or deal with these unsightly situations we all get from time to time.

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy Luminizing Face Primer 1.jpg

One problem some of have from time to time is the dreaded hangover. A happy hour with girlfriends that turned into an all-nighter can happen and when it does, you wake up exhausted, dehydrated, red-eyed and feeling no-so-fresh. There is a few easy steps to look well rested and sobered up in a flash. As soon as you wake up start chugging water to re-hydrate and end the puffiness. Next, step into a cold shower to wake up the system and then when your out apply my Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Luminizing Face Primer to give your skin back it’s lost radiance. Now highlight the eyes with a little white shimmer on the inner corners and under the brows then sweep of navy blue mascara and your eyes will look wide-awake. A pop of pink on the apples of the cheeks and a slick of pink on your lips will erase any look of late night antics.

Creepy cold sores happen to many of us and usually at the worst times possible! The right way to conceal an outbreak is to use disposable sponges and Q-tips to lightly cover the spot with foundation, concealer and a light hint of powder then toss the tools so you won’t spread the infection.

Now I know many of you are good girls and not out there getting hickies but for the bad girls club there are a few tricks to rid yourself of the evidence. After receiving this badge of badness try rolling a lipstick tube over the area. This will dissipate the blood under the skin allowing it to vanish quicker. Another tip is to stick a metal spoon in the freezer and then lay the cold utensil on the bruise to calm it down. Try my Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Fast Fix Concealers to hide the mark when turtle neck sweaters are out of the question.

Crazy Busy Beautiful Book Launch Beauty

Carmindy's Book Party

Recently I threw a fun and fabulous book launch party at New York’s hot private club Norwood for my new book Crazy Busy Beautiful. I chose a teal Zac Posen dress (that fit like a glove only after a week of 2-hour-a-day workouts and no carbs or alcohol) and gold YSL sky-high heels.

I wanted my makeup to be playful, but not overwhelming and decided to go with fun eyes and glossy light lips. I used almost my entire line of Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired Carmindy products with a few things I don’t make thrown in the mix. This is what I used and how I created my look exactly:

Fast Fix Concealer All Over Brightener

First off, I rubbed on my Luminizing Face Primer all over my face and my body for a radiant glow and soft smooth skin. Next I applied my Your Skin Makeup in Creamy Beige all over my skin using a non-latex sponge and dabbed on my Fast Fix Concealer in All Over Brightener under my eyes. I then swirled on my Sheerest Cream Blush in Flush to the apples of my cheeks and along the cheekbones back to the hairline. I dusted on my Truly Translucent Loose Powder in Neutralizer all over my skin and then filled in my brows with Lorac’s Brow Pencil in Blonde.

Forever Stay Pencil Sally Hansen Inspired By Carmindy

I used NYC Cosmetics Sparkle Dust in Opal Sparkle under my brows and on the inner corners of my eyes and right on top of the cheekbones. I decided to go for a few falsies and applied Ardell Accent Lashes in #301 at the outer corners of my eyes for a fun flirty fringe. Then I smudged my Forever Stay Eye Pencil in Jade along the upper and lower lash line and also in the inside rim of the eyes for a really teal green smudgy look. I swept the lid shade from my Instant Definition Eye Shadow palette in Mountain across my lids and into the crease and then finished my eyes with my Lift and Define Mascara in Black.

I swiped on my Color Comfort Lip Color in Champagne Rose and topped it of with my Natural Shine Lip Gloss in Sparkling Champagne.

I got a ton of compliments about the eye makeup even from a few guys who said they thought my eye make up looked cool and they never notice anything like that! This is definitely going to be one of my fave new nighttime looks for spring!

Glow From Within

Many women ask me how to get that all-over glow when it comes to their complexion. Good skin care and the right makeup are a really good start, but to get truly amazing skin the secret begins from within. It is all about taking internal antioxidants and living a healthy lifestyle like getting plenty of rest, oxygen and exercise too.

Glowelle

I am addicted to my daily dose of Glowelle, an age defying anti-oxidant drink mix that I have been using for 3 weeks and I swear I won’t ever stop. This easy powder antioxidant packet easily mixes in your water bottle for a full daily dose of skin beautifying vitamins for glowing gorgeous skin. I work out 6 days a week so I also like to put it into my protein shakes in the morning for a boost of energy that makes me look good, too.

The ingredients in Glowelle that make skin so beautiful are the most powerful age fighters out there. Green tea, grape seed, vitamins A,C and E are just a few of the potent nutrients in Glowelle that promote flawless glowing skin and it was developed by Dr. Susan Beck a scientist and nutritionist who really knows her stuff. Available in Natural Pomigranite Lychee and Natural Rasberry Jasmine flavors these tasty packets are yummy and easy to travel with. Just throw one in your bag and you are good to go for the day. Before I started Glowelle I was scheduled to get a facial from the dry winter air dulling my skin but by week three, I had canceled my appointment because my skin looked incredible. No joke!

Glowelle is sold at Neiman Marcus stores nationwide or visit www.glowelle.com and take the 30-day challenge today and see how fabulous you look in a month. You will definitely be surprised.

East Vs. West Coast Makeup

I’m currently in LA working and can’t help but notice the difference between the way women on the west coast wear their makeup as opposed to women on the east coast.

sally-hansen-natural-beauty-inspired-by-carmindy-storm-eye-palette.jpg

On the east coast, most ladies choose only one feature to play up and then they make a statement. It’s all about a smoky lined eye or a bold lip or dewy skin. They polish their look to perfection and create a refined concept of sophistication based on what is hot at the moment or what they know will look good on their favorite feature. I see many east coasters smoking up their eyes by going for shadow kits like Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Instant Definition Eye Shadow Palette in Storm or lining them up to perfection with pots of perfect grease paint like Serge Lutens Khol Eyeliner. Lips are painted up with Lipstick Queen Sinners Opaque Lipstick 90% Pigment or skin is dewified with Fresh’s Satin Luster Palette.

lorac.jpg

Our west coast sisters have a different approach, yet one that is just as chic. They have a casual laidback approach to natural beauty. It’s almost like they didn’t try and just rolled out of bed looking lightly tanned, healthy and effortlessly beautiful. They lightly self tan with Jergens Natural Glow to keep a year long bronze and pink up their cheeks with Smashbox O-Glow a unique cheek tint that works with your body’s natural chemistry to fake a flawless flush. Mascara is big and they love flirty fringe to play up eyes rather then too much shadow and everyone here loves their plumping gloss like Lorac’s Lotsa Lip Plumping Lip Gloss in Babie.

No matter what side of the country you are on you can always play sides depending on your mood.

The Best Spring Colors For Eyes

If eyes are your feature focus this spring there are many pretty new shades to choose from to get yourself noticed. From jewel-toned eyeliner pencils to shimmering soft lavender shadows to creamy pink highlighters there is a bevy of pretty beauty products to play with.

Forever Stay Pencil Sally Hansen Inspired By Carmindy

Colored eyeliner is hot hot hot so choose shades of teal, deep green or navy blue to smudge into the upper lash line. Pair the liner with neutral shimmering shadow on the lid and black mascara for eyes that will look electric. The best colors are Jade and Indigo Forever Stay Eyeliner Pencils from Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy and the waterproof gel formulas will glide on easy and stay put through the heat.

Shadows are seen in pretty romantic hues of lilac and soft purple and are swept across the lid from the lash line up to the crease and highlightes in champagne pink is swept under the brows. This look works with a slight smudge of chocolate brown eyeliner and lots of mascara. The best shades are Nars Single Eye Shadow in Night Fairy or Rimmel Colour Rush Mono Eyeshadow in Intense. Highlight reins supreme all Spring long and work wonders for a fast fix on illuminating eyes.

Apply shimmering creamy formulas in champagne pink or pale golds under the brows, on the inner corners of the eyes and on top of the cheekbones and just sweep on black mascara for a quick look that sparkles and glows. Use Fresh Satin Luster Palette or Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Natural Highlighter in Gold Luster.

Choose one of these looks at a time to get it right and you will look beautiful and fresh for the new season.

Best Lips At The Oscars

Last night I was really blown away with how glamorous and perfect the more mature actresses looked at the 2010 Oscars. They used lip colors to make a statement and it was very old school Hollywood.

For the over 50 group Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep looked simply divine. The key to their youthful and beautiful makeup was all about the color rose. Using rose on cheeks and lips makes older skin appear light and romantic and paired with subtle defined eyes makes any women look polished to perfection. Try my Rose Bloom Lipstick by Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy for a perfect rosy hue.

My favorites in the 40′s group consisted of Sandra Bullock and Demi Moore who, let’s face it, looked stellar and never ages. I’m sure she has a deal with the devil or something! For Sandra’s look go for a universal shade of red like Givenchy Rouge Interdit Lipstick in Rouge Cancan on the lips and pair it with a highlighted eye and black liner. Demi played with pretty rosewood shades of pink on lips that matched her dress perfectly and defined her eyes with false lashes and black liner. Her look was accentuated with highlight on the top of the cheekbones, which made her skin look radiant.

The 30-somethings looked ethereal like Jennifer Lopez dropping her overly tanned look and going for sublime romance in mauvey lips and defined eyes. Try my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Forever Stay Lip Gloss in Bloom to copy her look. Vera Farmiga chose to go bold in berry with her lips and lots of lashes for a fun flirty look.

So ladies the lippy is back and you don’t need to walk a red carpet to have fun with new shades.

Cool Corals For Spring

If you are as sick of winter as I am, then you will want to start looking ahead to see what exciting makeup is around the next corner and get a jumpstart on the warm weather beauty. As we approach spring we all want to wake up our dull winter faces in a flash and adopt the hottest color of the moment.

Most women don’t realize that the lovely shade of coral is a truly universal hue that looks bright and beautiful on all women and gives you an instant spring/summer look. This perfect mix of orangey pink goodness is hot hot hot and will liven up cheeks, make lips lusciously bold and look chic on fingers and toes.

Fair babes need to choose pinky peach tones that are sheer and slightly shimmery for a sun-kissed look. Medium and olive skinned chics look great in melon and poppy shades while dark divas look super hot in bold fiery corals and sunburst oranges. Using these colors with a nice bronzer, chocolate brown eyeliner and black mascara creates the perfect balance for flawless sunshine beauty. Some of my must have coral products are my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Color Comfort Lip Color in Sunburst and my Forever Stay Moisture Gloss in Creamsicle. These two perfect coral shades for lips work on light and medium skin tones for the most flattering way to go coral.

Priti Nail Polish in Snapdragon and Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral looks fab on darker skin tones and dark skinned beauties can get away with wearing a hint of coral tint on the eyes too. Try the eye shadow from Origins called Copper Penny for a warm sparkly glow on the lids.

The Right Concealer

When choosing the right concealer you need to know that there are a few different shades you will need for a few different reasons. With shadowy dark undereye circles the skin tends to look more blue and requires a lighter brighter concealer to help bounce light under the eyes to keep you looking awake. Concealers with light reflecting particles are a good bet to keep the area fresh and well rested.

Fast Fix Concealer All Over Brightener

My top picks are my Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy Fast Fix Concealer in All Over Brightener and Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Concealer. The best way to apply them is with the ring finger (the weakest digit) so you don’t pull on the delicate skin around your eyes. Just tap on the coverage lightly in the darker hollows under the eyes.

For hiding facial blemishes that tend to be red or brown like pimples, veins or sunspots go for concealers that match your skin tone but are a thicker consistency than your foundation. Apply it to the spot by taking a fine-tipped concealer brush and lay the concealer right on the blemish and lightly blend in with the brush. Always apply foundation first then concealer on top, then follow with a light dusting of powder to keep it in place. My fave is the AmazingCosmetics AmazingConcealer for its thickness and the fact it is waterproof. If it’s a tattoo you are trying to hide use an orangey tinted concealer that really does the trick to hide stubborn ink on the skin. Use the Joe Blasco Tattoo Cover for that tough job by stippling the product into the skin and then use a dusting of setting powder over top to keep it out of sight.
