We’ve only met her once, but we’re going to go ahead and call it: Dakota Fanning is the most adorable actress ever. The super-sweet, level-headed star was on hand at an event last night to celebrate her role as the new spokesperson for Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola! fragrance.
The ad campaign for the scent was shot by famed photographer Juergen Teller, and features Dakota posing demurely with a giant bottle of Oh, Lola! This isn’t the first time Dakota has worked with Jacobs and Teller: In 2006 the then 12-year-old actress controversially posed for the brand wearing child-size versions of the designer’s Spring 2007 collection.
Dakota said one of her favorite memories from that shoot was when her dog, Lewellen, jumped into one of the handbags that was sitting on the ground and Teller started snapping photos. That shot was later used in the actual ad campaign and Dakota says she has a framed copy of it hanging in her home.
“It was amazing getting to work with Juergen again–we picked up right where we left off five years ago,” the actress said. “I didn’t know what the bottle looked like or what the fragrance was. I mean, you hope it smells good! And then I got there and was able to smell it and it was exactly what I love. And it’s pink, which is my favorite color!”
Dressed in head-to-toe Marc Jacobs, it was easy to believe her when she stated that she’s “been a big fan of Marc Jacobs for years. His fragrances are all I’ve ever worn. I’m not lying when I say this, but I don’t leave the house without a Marc Jacobs fragrance on. Right now it’s Oh, Lola! that I wear every day. It’s so good.”
When asked to describe her personal style, Dakota said, “I always thought that I never wanted to be able to describe it one way. That’s the actress in me. I wake up and want to portray a certain vibe that day. I kind of take on a character. I like it to be easy and like you’re not trying too hard.”
Dakota, who has just recently moved to New York while she attends classes at NYU, says that she’s enjoying the city, but that it’s a big change from Los Angeles. “My feet hurt from walking everywhere! I’m used to just hopping in a car to go somewhere, but here you just walk,” she says.
While she’s focusing on her schoolwork right now, Dakota is set to head to London next month to start filming Effie, a movie written and co-starring Emma Thompson.
