In true Jessica Alba fashion, we spotted the star wearing a look that’s on it’s way to becoming a hot trend for fall. The actress and mamma of two–who’s praised for her super feminine and trendy style–spiced up a simple polka dot dress, with this sultry lip. The great thing about the mulberry lip is that it’s a very warm fall color. It’s not too dark, and works on almost any skin tone. Here’s how you can re-create Jessica’s look.

Make Waves With Summer Color

What You Need:

Lip exfoliator
Lip brush
Mulberry-colored lip liner
Wine/berry-colored lipstick
Sheer finishing powder
Clear lip gloss

Step 1: Start by exfoliating your lips before you apply any color. The trick to getting Jessica’s silky smooth lips is to make sure any dead skin cells have been removed from your mouth, so try something like Bliss Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub ($18, Drugstore.com).

Step 2: Start by lining the outside of your mouth with a color identical, or just slightly darker than your lipstick shade. It helps to use products from the same brand to get a good match, so we recommend Revlon ColorStay Lipliner in Wine ($9, Walgreens.com). For a softer look, use a Q-tip or your finger to smudge the edges. Then color your entire lip with the pencil. This way, when your lipstick wears off, you’ll still have some color on your lips.

Step 3: Fill your lips with a mulberry red or wine color, like Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Raspberry ($9, Ulta.com). Use a lip brush to create clean lines across your mouth. Applying directly from the stick could smudge your liner.

Step 4: If you prefer a matte look, stop here. To get Jessica’s lip, add a clear gloss, like Cover Girl Shine Blast Duo Lip Gloss in Dazzle ($10, Target.com), to make the color really pop. Steer clear of tinted gloss, as it can create a muddy look.

How To Get Sexy Summer Legs

This lip color is very multifunctional–though it will be super hot for fall, it’s not too dark to wear in the summer too. Would you try Jessica’s look?
