Lady Gaga has another smash hit on her hands, and this one you can wear. Fame, the singer’s just-released signature perfume, has rocketed to the top of the fragrance charts to become the number one bestseller in the US. And it’s no wonder this juice is trending big-time—everything about the scent is as bold as its famous creator.
The first-of-its-kind black eau de parfum looks inky housed in its egg-shaped bottle (reminiscent of the singer’s legendary Grammys entrance, of course), but sprays on clear. According to Gaga, the idea came from examining the dark side of fame: black at its soul, yet sweetly intoxicating.
The scent itself is as captivating as any of the pop star’s number ones—and highly unique, too. Unlike typical fragrances, Fame doesn’t have top, middle and base notes, but three accords: dark, sensual and light. The dark accord comes from belladonna (the poisonous flower also known as “deadly nightshade”) and incense, while the sensual accord features honey, saffron and apricot. A light floral accord with crushed tiger orchid and jasmine sambac rounds out the trio.
But the most interesting facet of Fame? The scent smells completely unique on different people. Because if there’s one thing Gaga’s Little Monsters value, it’s individuality.
