The Great Gatsby opens tonight, and we’re celebrating with some of our favorite celebrity faux bobs. Nicole Richie’s was styled with elegant finger waves that give the style a 20s effect. To create a finger wave, clamp a flat iron down on a small section of hair and do a half rotation outward. After holding for a few seconds, move the iron down and do a half rotation inwards. Repeat until strand is finished. Set the look with GG Gatsby’s Against Gravity Hairspray ($12.99, gggastby.com).
Try On Faux Bobs In The Makeover Studio
Celebrity stylist Josue Perez recommends using a Rowenta Versa Style ($159.99, ulta.com) to get the curlier version of a faux bob. Take an inch and a half hair section, clamp the tool onto the hair, and spin it at 180 degrees to create a nice curl (similar to how you would curl a ribbon with scissors). Repeat all over your hair before pulling it up.
10 Long Bobs We Love
To actually make hair appear shorter, Perez recommends you take a small hair tie (the smaller better, to conceal) and put all of your hair in it, leaving only about a two inches out. Shake out your hair ever so slightly to loosen hair and grab the hair right behind the head and turn it under to create a bubble. Using bobby pins, secure the hair tie right underneath the back of your head.
