In honor of the The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new exhibit, PUNK: Chaos to Couture (which opens May 9) we’re looking back at three of our favorite female punk beauty icons. First up: Debbie Harry. With her platinum hair and ultra-glam makeup looks, the Blondie singer was a star in New York’s punk and new wave scene.
The singer and poet has been called the Godmother of Punk thanks to her influential role in the ’70s New York music scene. Her signature shag haircut is one of our all-time favorites (and even inspired Balenciaga’s fall 2012 campaign).
Armour Beauty Lip Gloss in Siouxsie ($21, beauty.com), created by rocker Theo Kogan of Lunachicks, is made to last through a high-energy performance. The shade name is an homage to Sioux’s signature red lip.
