New Fall TV Looks We Love
The networks got tired of AMC having all the retro fun on Mad Men, so both NBC and ABC have shows set in the ’60s on their fall slates. The Playboy Club is about the swinging Playboy Club in Chicago, but of course there’s a lot more going on. Maureen (Amber Heard) accidentally kills a Mob boss, and it’s up to Eddie Cibrian’s Nick Dalton to protect her. Oh, and there will be winged eyeliner and ’60s curls to die for.

“Passion, adventure and espionage… They do it all–and they do it at 30,000 feet,” reads the description for Pan Am. Back in the day, flying was glamorous, pilots were “rockstars” and stewardesses were “the most desirable women in the world.” In the 1960′s, a stewardess like Maggie (Christina Ricci) represented luxury, so her hair, makeup and pristine uniform had to match the airline’s white-glove service.

This reboot of the action-packed series from the ’70s takes place in Miami, so get ready for sun-kissed skin (and lots of it), luminous makeup and bright, colorful wardrobes. Angels Abby (Rachael Taylor), Kate (Annie Ilonzeh) and Eve (Minka Kelly) may look innocent in angelic white, but they’ve all fallen from grace and have mysterious pasts. Irony!

Are they graduating? Who’s leaving the show? Ryan Murphy has been dropping conflicting hints about season three of Glee for months. One thing we know for sure is that Quinn (Dianna Agron), fresh off her finale hairstyle makeover, drifts even further from her prom queen roots by dying her hair pink. Between Quinn’s radical hair and promo pics of Brittany and Santana back in Cheerios uniforms, it’s looking like Glee is back on track.

Lovers of fairy tales and romantic hairstyles rejoice! In Once Upon A Time, Ginnifer Goodwin stars as Snow White/Sister Mary Margaret Blanchard in this genre-bending show combining fantasy and reality. Jennifer Morrison is Anna Swan, a bail bondsman drawn into a magical world that will help her uncover secrets about her past (ABC’s all about the mysterious pasts this fall). We’re in it for the princess ball gowns.

When hip, Juno-esque NYC teen Tessa’s dad finds a box of condoms in her drawer, he decides to leave the depraved city for supposedly more tame and less slutty suburbia. We all know where this is going! Cheryl Hines’ character was born with a Bumpit, and everyone reallyyyyy likes the color pink and leopard print. Get ready for Mean Girls: The sitcom, but Lindsay Lohan’s character is replaced with a girl from New York City. My DVR is already set (stop judging me!).

Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to television as “A woman who, after witnessing a murder, goes on the run, hiding out by assuming the life of her wealthy identical twin sister–only to learn that her sister’s seemingly idyllic life is just as complicated and dangerous as the one she’s trying to leave behind.” Sounds complex, but we can’t wait for Siobhan/Bridget’s (the twins) sleek socialite hair, makeup and outfits.

Ryan Murphy returns to his Nip/Tuck roots when he teams up with Glee co-creator for this American gothic series that is definitely not for younger viewers. Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott play a couple that relocates from Boston to L.A. to rebuild their relationship. Unfortunately, they move into a haunted house full of creepy French maids, ghosts and more. The eerie house and saturated reds only add to the fear.

The season kicks off with Serena (Blake Lively) still exploring her options in L.A., which means she has an entirely new wardrobe perfect for warm and breezy weather (everyone in NYC has a California wardrobe on standby). In this still, Lively wears a Shipley & Halmos tank and a Porter Grey skirt. The outfit is gorgeously accessorized with emerald earrings and a ring by Oscar de la Renta, plus a matching green bag. You know, just a normal Thursday outfit for Serena van der Woodsen.

Okay, so it’s not technically a fall show, but NBC has been teasing Smash since June. The show brings you the “blood, sweat and tears of making a Broadway musical,” starring Katharine McPhee as a young ingénue in her first big break, and Debra Messing as one of the show’s producers. Oh, and did we mention Morticia Addams herself, Anjelica Houston, is along for the ride? Get ready for an instant camp classic.
