Holiday season is rapidly approaching, which means you’ll soon be surrounded by sweets, desserts and drinks. The concept to make sure you don’t stack on the extra lbs. is to keep everything in moderation and not reach for processed snacks, but for homemade “healthier” snack recipes from my Sunday Set-Up™ Club. Think of these munchies as fuel, not food that will keep you energized, satiated and satisfied!
Instead snacking on chips and salsa during parties this winter, go straight to the source. Slice an avocado in half and make sure to remove the seed. Then, slice it into a tic-tac-toe pattern, drizzle with aged balsamic vinegar, sprinkle on a pinch of sea salt, and grab a spoon!
Forget about deviled eggs during the holidays. Opt for a healthy Heavenly Delight. Slice a boiled egg in half and remove the yolk, filling each half with a scoop of delight! To make the “delight” take one triangle of Laughing Cow cheese,1 tsp. minced onion, 1 tsp. minced red pepper, 1 floret of steamed or raw broccoli, salt and pepper and whip it altogether.
Skip the sugary hors d’oeuvres at your holiday party opt for dried apricot snackers. Just take two apricots, two raw almonds, one Laughing Cow blue cheese, stack and enjoy!
Lose the candy apples this holiday season and munch on some roasted red apple slices instead. Slice one apple into many thin slices. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake in a 300 degree oven until dry and crispy. Yum!
